GameCube Thread?

Can we get a GameCube thread going? /vr/ refuses all GameCube and I have been collecting it so I think it would be nice to have a thread discussing one of the more underrated consoles. It's a shame GameCube was outshined so much by PS2 but what are you gonna do.

What are some of your favorite games/memories with this bad boy?

What do you have? I have a big list of recommendations, but I don't want to be redundant.

reminder that
>Resident Evil 4
>Donkey Kong Jungle Beat
>Pikmin 1 + 2
are all better on the Wii

I have fond memories of playing Nightfire and Timesplitters with my brother. The Gamecube was a lot of fun, even if it had no games.

one of the things I liked to do was sit on the menu in the dark and just listen to its ambience.

>tfw the Day of Reckoning gamer were superior to Smackdown vs Raw on ps2

I just started collecting about a month ago so I'm not too deep into it, but this is what my list is looking like.

Games I have:
Animal Crossing
Medal of Honor Frontline
Spider-Man
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3
Lord of the Rings: Return of the King
Luigi's Mansion

Games I want:
Super Smash Bros Melee
Geist
Mario Party(any of them really)
Mario Kart Double Dash
Paper Mario
Super Mario Sunshine
Custom Robo
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
The Inredible Hulk
The Legend of Zelda Promotional Disc
Kirby Air Ride
Metroid Prime
Soul Calibur 2

The GameCube menu/startup screen was a lot better than Xbox or PS2 imo. They also did some cool things like if it was Halloween certain GameCube games would have pumpkin heads on characters which I thought was so cool as a kid.

>falling for the physical meme
the fuck are you doing son

Solid list. I'd also recommend takes of symphonia and baten kaitos If you're not against jrpgs

Last night I started up a town for the first time in ACGC.

Dropping in this thread to recommend Killer7.
The PC port is fine if you can't get it on Gamecube.

Building up a game room. Got a dart board, mini fridge, Sega Genesis with over 40 games, N64 with about 20 games, Wii set up with a bunch of games and a big ass CRT TV. It's always nice to invite people over and have a pretty big variety available right there.

I personally like Mario Party 4 and 6 the most. I'd put priority on those over the other two.
The Pikmin games and Chibi-Robo are very fun games that give you the perspective of someone who is very small, which there just isn't enough of in games. It's always cool when done right.

I always loved the GC controller. Fits so nice in your hands and the buttons are all close together. Definitely Nintendo's best controller

>Day of Reckoning
My nigga

>I just started collecting about a month ago
why the fuck did you wait so long, you retard
add these, have fun paying stupid prices
>viewtiful joe
>chibi robo
>tales of symphonia
>cubivore
>donkey kong jungle beat
>pikmin 1 & 2
>super mario strikers
>billy hatcher
>battle for bikni bottom
>godzilla destroy all monsters
>eternal darkness
>killer 7
>metal arms
>alien hominid
>wario world
>bloody roar primal fury
>skies of arcadia legends
>wave race blue storm
>wario ware inc mega microgames

what are you going on about? you don't need physical to accomplish that.

>I just started collecting about a month ago
This is like the worst possible time to do so. And I don't mean because of the virus, I mean because collector prices for GameCube games were bad enough before this happened.

I played TTYD a little over month ago with the HD texture pack. Was surprisingly soulful and didn't look like that one cat meme.

Resident evil 4 is not better on the wii

It has more content and widescreen support. It has support for the original controller and also a while bunch more. In what possible way could it be worse?

>Jungle Beat
>better on the Wii
Don't be stupid. The entire point was the bongo control scheme. 4's pointer aiming makes the game too easy and it doesn't add any significant content. Pikmin 1+2 are objectively better on Wii though.

I guess I kinda fell into it. I've put a lot of focus on collecting Genesis and N64. Decided it would be smart to get a Wii and a PS2 for backwards compatibility purposes. Found a Wii for dirt cheap and just started doing what I can. I didn't realize it had gotten that bad though. So far I've paid under $100 for the games I do have and the console itself.

>Games I want:
>Melee
>Double Dash
>Sunshine
>Prime
Why would you not already have these

>The Pikmin games and Chibi-Robo are very fun games
seconding these.
i'd also add super monkey ball, metroid prime 2, f-zero gx, sands of time, resident evil (remake), and maybe lost kingdoms 1/2 and 007 nightfire.
btw, the prince of persia games are worth playing on gc (or xbox too, i assume) but have awful framerate on ps2.

>I just started collecting about a month ago
>paying scalper prices
You physicalfags need to die.

Collecting lol. When I hacked my wii I sold all my gamecube discs

getting it in Christmas morning with the gift tag saying “From: Jesus.” Also playing the censored version of THPS 1 and 2 on N64 I had no idea the GCN version of 3 was uncensored and I had to play in secret because everytime I ate shit in game blood splattered everywhere and my parents were weirdly sensitive to that type of thing

For the off chance somebody doesn’t know this, hold the Z button down before turning it on. Then do it again with 4 controllers plugged in while holding Z on all of them

It has the absolute worst controller I've ever used for a home console. I don't understand why they had to put one giant button with 3 surrounding it that makes it look like a toy for mentally challenged kids. The shoulder buttons are by far the worst I have ever used, I could only imagine that they didn't test it at all.

I really like the face buttons placement. I think they're ingenious.
However, I feel both the left stick and C-stick are kind of shit.

I feel the exact opposite and it’s one of my favorite console controllers I’ve ever used

A lot of the well-known classic GC titles are here if you haven't scanned through this
I'll throw in the Pokemon and Star Fox games which haven't been mentioned yet

I know it's an enhanced port, but I loved Chaos Field Expanded on Gamecube. Still one of the best shmups I've ever played.

I played a lot of Melee when I was young, but I never became a competitive player. It was one of my favorite games on the system, but it wasn't the ONLY game I liked.

Infact, I'd say that the GameCube was rife with quality games. I remember spending lots of time with games like Baten Kaitos, WindWaker, Metroid Prime and other games of the like. Even the collections of older games were pretty solid, mainly the Sonic Mega Collection (Had a Genesis when growing up). I had good time with the thing, and while it was the last "current" console I would end up buying (I bought a PS2, but that was during the 7th Gen), it was still a great experience.

I like the triggers for certain games. The D-pad, c-stick, and z-button are fucking garbage though.

>Chaos Field
Oh hey! I never expected to hear that game brought up of all things!. I bought it for the GameCube as well, but it didn't click with me...until I later bought the Milestone Shooting Collection for the Wii, and got an opportunity to actually understand the game's scoring system. Figuring out how the scoring worked felt like some kind of occult ritual, which transfigured the game and made it fun.

As always, dont play the PS2 version of any given game if you can help it. Killer 7 was hit especially hard though.

This here too. I'm a shelf fetishist as well but I just use Flashcart or harddrive solutions for party setups.

How does its scoring system work?

Don't forget the timesplitters games

Any major ones I'm missing besides Twilight Princess?

Animal Crossing
Crazy Taxi
F-Zero GX
Four Swords Adventures
Geist
Luigi's Mansion
Kirby Air Ride
Mario Golf Toadstool Tour
Mario Kart Double Dash
Mario Party 4
Mario Party 5
Metroid Prime
Metroid Prime 2 Echoes
P.N.03
Paper Mario Thousand Year Door
Resident Evil Zero
REmake
Resident Evil 4
Shrek 2
Sonic Mega Collection
Star Fox Adventures
Super Mario Sunshine
Super Monkey Ball
Super Smash Bros. Melee
True Crime Streets of LA
Viewtiful Joe
Wind Waker
Zelda Collector's Edition

The Pikmins, Eternal Darkness, Soul Calibur 2, Rogue Leader, TimeSplitters 2, and several RPGs.
Also the Zelda Collector's Edition is shit. Everything emulates poorly.

Where's the best place to find gamecube roms without a high likelihood of getting fucked by malware? Thinking of installing Dolphin and using a buncha stuff I've seen in this thread
