Hyrule Warriors

Where does Hyrule Warriors rank among musou games? I'm considering getting the switch version.

Quite honestly one of the best musou games out there. It also has tons of contentand it doesn't bother with clone characters.

If you like musou games, I can really recommend this one.

I liked it, but the lack of a jump button fucked with me more than I thought it would.

I'm playing it right now, trying to max level everyone and unlock everything. I wish there was an easy way to get rupees, like that glitch in the Wii U version.

Absolutely worth it, especially if you're a Zelda fan because it's obvious that the developers love the series and packed it full of fanservice and references.

I'm not a huge Musou fan, but it's definitely the best one I've played, the Switch version in particular. The core gameplay isn't anything you wouldn't expect, but the sheer amount of content is absolutely ridiculous and the long drip-feeding of new characters and weapons makes it really addictive. It's one of those games that keeps making you say, "I guess I can do one more level." Some of the characters aren't very fun to play, but the Switch version is a bit more balanced than the original and doesn't force you to play as them nearly as often.

good but has technical flaws. will get memory leaks if you dont restart the game for an extended period and handheld performance is shit for some reason.

Oh right, I forgot about the memory leak. It's not really an issue as long as you remember to completely close the game out when you put the console to sleep, but I'm surprised that was never fixed.

Which is better? Hyrule Warriors or Dynasty Warriors 8?

It seems like selling weapons is the only good way to make rupees.

Really wish the Oracle games weren't completely neglected, but it's an extremely solid musou

At least some of the fairy food is based on those games, but I know what you mean. Even after the 3ds version the 2D games still felt a bit neglected.

Nintendo seems to prefer not speaking of the Capcom-made games as much as possible.

I don't like the musou games that allow you to kill 5k minions easily while your allies don't do shit. I rather the KO number be lower like in DW4-5

Im just waiting for it to go on sale.

I saw it on sale ONCE and didn't pick it up.

It's not Nintendo, they rereleased them on 3DS and put references to them in Breath of the Wild, not to mention they plucked team members from Flagship when Capcom disbanded it and put them into the Zelda team (including Hidemaro Fujibayashi who is the current director). It's Koei Tecmo itself that has issues with Capcom due to losing a complete bullshit court case to them in the past. Hayashi even said it would be difficult to put content from the Capcom games in Hyrule Warriors when asked by a fan.

I often see Nintendo marginalize the Oracle and Four Sword games whenever they do something like an artbook. It's clearly not K-T alone.

Some characters absolutely suck to use like Fi or Marin

They might simply not have a lot of concept art since they didn't make them.

>mfw the awful bosses
>Mfw you have to wait around for commanders to attack to trigger the stun gauge cus it's 10x faster than attacking them

HW has its flaws.

If you see a Nintendo title on sale you pretty much have to buy it. They never make this convenient until 5 years after the fact.

>It also has tons of content
It has padding upon padding, don't mislead OP.

If you're a Zelda fan, you'll like it. If you can stomach the musou gameplay, you'll likely love it. If no to any of those two, you may want to give it a miss.

>have to play for 200+ hours for it to actually begin to be challenging
>It's still not actually even hard

I fucking hate musou games. Why can't you skip to Lunatic Crazy Insane++++ difficulty from the begging. These games are TOO FUCKING EASY

The Switch version hat the potential for greatness, but it runs like absolute unfiltered ass in handheld mode because it's being rendered at 1080p and downsampled for some ungodly reason.
Some of the boss encounter cutscenes literally dip into single target FPS, and it's the game that makes my Switch run hot and drain battery like a motherfucker, no other game comes even close.
TV play is another problem since the interface is so freaking small (it was scaled straight down with the jump from 720p to 1080p, which makes the minimap very hard to read when you're playing from your couch).
Some small and easily fixable problems, but there was no patch.

Capcom and Koei is like Japan and Korea.
They are still butthurt.

As a Zelda fan I kind of agree. I'd say rent it first if you're on the fence. They constantly recycle missions for the first 4 adventure maps.

Would have been 11/10 masterpiece if the switch version added a BOTW stage + Champions + Guardians boss, and online play.

As it stands, it is a 9/10, just wish they went the extra mile for the re-release. One of my favorite games ever though.

not anymore thanks to fairies
but yes, otherwise you'll need to bait them and it's shit
just go to maps, you can play levels tailored for level 150+ characters if you want

Would you say a sequel is inevitable?

Nintendo aims to release at least one Zelda product every year and HW has been very successful, so I think it will happen next time they need something to fill an off year.

a sequel for musous is a no brainer, literally change the box artwork for 60$
yet it's nintendo we're talking about, they're among the dumbest shitters in the industry

The Switch version should have been the sequel.

The soundtrack is a bunch of remixes but they fucking slap

No game is without its flaws but as musou/warriors titles go Hyrule Warriors is easily one of the best, with a fuckhuge roster spanning a surprising numbers of Zelda games and so much content as to be absurd. I'm told mainline warriors fans dislike it tho as it doesnt focus on Asain Historical figues
