sadly the game i've been composing for is currently on hold
none of the team members are really doing anything, the group dm is inactive except for my music, and i don't know how to write a line of code
No of course not haha why would I waste time when making a game is so engaging and thrilling and fulfilling hehe silly OP
Haha of c-course I haven't, I've been hard at work at my project user
sources: dude, trust me

i like it but it's a bit repetitive
I'm working on a fun little top down shooter project in Unity right now. How does marketing for games work? Should the entire thing be finished before I start advertising it? Should I put a free demo of what I have so far on itch.io?
make a twitter, post game updates and remember to tag your posts
then post a demo on itch and gamejolt
If you're a procrastinator you're gonna procratinate regardless of how much free time you have.
What tags are used? GameDev?
#gamedev
#madewith(ENGINE)
#indiedev
#screenshotsaturday
#(engine you are using)
and then different tag based on what you're posting (#animation for an animated gif, #pixelart if you're posting pixelshit, etc.)
I can't into 3D, what type of graphic should I use? Is pixelshit really that hated now? What are the alternatives for indie game?
I hate pixelshit. Why can't indie games look like this? It looks nowhere near as good as Metal Slug but still looks detailed and cool despite the shit resolution
Cause I can't draw that well
When people say they hate "pixelshit" they generally mean very VERY simplified pixelshit where the characters either don't have a face (because there's no space for one) or have no fucking animation whatsoever.
But first find a game's artstyle that you really like, then try to emulate it, then try to add your own flavor to it.
>I hate pixelshit
>posts pixelshit
????
I've been working on a game project for some time now and just sent my first rushed 'alpha build' to my collaborator - which included all of the project files because my dumbass almost deleted it all pushing us back 3-4 months to a build I had on my google drive.
I'm not worried about him stealing or 'leaking' anything, short of showing it to his circle of friends and taking more credit than is due for him, and as much as I love the guy I'm pretty confident he couldn't get the stuff to even run without my help. Besides, it's roughly only 30% complete in a core functionality aspect, so he doesn't have much of anything to show off in terms of actual gameplay.
It just feels a little strange to know that someone has all of my game's code and files before I was planning to release them to the public.
If anyone is gonna laugh at my code, I'll be the one to release it goddamn it
ive worked on a lil bit but its due in like 3 weeks for my animation class ugh its gonna be bad
>watching dumb shit on jewtube
actually i'm CREATING dumb shit on youtube in order to gather some form of audience before i actually end up working on and releasing a game.
much better having SOME following before releasing a thing that nobody might know of at all.
I can't draw.
>When people say they hate "pixelshit" they generally mean very VERY simplified pixelshit where the characters either don't have a face (because there's no space for one)
That's though and he just bitched about pixelshit. That tank has 2 frames of animation, too.
Would this be considered "good" pixelshit then?
first off that game is almost 30 years old, second you can clearly see shadows and a lot of detail.
games like shovel knight don't have that much detail and actually look like NES games not even SNES
SNES graphics with round borders should be the bare minimum
People who try to equate Swords and Sorcery dogshit sprite graphics and Steam indie 'bob-up-and-down idle animation' shit with SNES Contra or Metal Slug don't deserve (You)s
It's all a matter of taste, but PP has made that art style for setting the difficulty of checking passport photos, any other art style wouldn't have worked with that gameplay because either it would be impossible or too simple.
>finna
die
>SNES graphics with round borders should be the bare minimum
That's fucking retarded. The Playstation is 25 years old, why isn't that the "bare minimum"?
>what is 2D
>what is 3D
idiot
>the PlayStation had no 2D games ever
idiot
I've started teach myself how to draw pixel art, pic related is the first thing I've made about 30 mins ago. It's supposed to be a top down of a mech for a turn based game idea I have. The plan is to make these simple sprites, then increase the size and use them as a base to add on detail too.
yeah I knows it's shit
wow night and day
Look at the rixels on that fireball. Get this pixelshit outta here
It's a simple concept but arguably better than 90% of anyone that has just started doing pixel art.
keep it up user
Trying to finish a story and mechanic ideas for a fighting game I wanna submit to some gamedev fags.
I think I got something pretty good too, but I need some help with self discipline. How are ya'll holding up?
What are you using to learn user?
