Isn't this the glitzy, shiny version of the game that defined many childhoods? What gives? Imagine if OoT got remade and was multiplat. People would treat it like the second coming of Jesus. What the hell is going on??

there are plenty of people that like it, it's just that there are tons of antishill posters right now filling every FF7 thread with nonsense so there isn't really much point to discussing the game in good faith. This has been a problem on Yas Forums with every major mainstream release since tortanic, after a couple of months it'll die down and we can start actually talking about the game. Same thing happened recently with Death Stranding.
I've been enjoying it more than I thought I would
Battle system takes some getting used to but once it clicks you can enter a nice flow state, swapping between party members and dishing out orders.

I love basically everything but the low quality textures. The time ghosts shit is whatever. I'm not happy about the different plot but it doesn't do anything to make the original plot any worse in my eyes especially since we don't know where they're going with things exactly yet

Even if you ignore the plot changes you can't deny the game is full of garbage filler. Almost dropped it at the 2nd time you have to slog through the same copy pasted sewer tunnels for an hour. Every dungeon is twice as long as it needed to have been
I barely swapped until I was forced to play as Barret and then found out I loved using him and Tifa. On my replay I'm definitely going to hop around characters a lot more.
yeah the filler is dumb, don't care at all about the plot changes tho I'm kind of glad we're getting a chance to change the outcome

It's a case of "throwing the baby out with the bathwater". So many people hate the ending/twist so much that they are down on the whole game, even though it some great moments (most of the game is great, actually).

Every single thread has people speaking positively. Yeah the story additions are rarded but I'm enjoying the game a lot
the problem with this is that since the ending leaked early it made up the minds of people who would go on to shitpost without playing the game. That's why the vast majority of bad faith critics only really post about time jannies. You can make a genuine thread about the gameplay mechanics, and it'll get bombarded by time janny posting. The few times the bad faith critics try talking about actual gameplay it's literally made-up shit like "lol it's mash X to win" even though remake makes this non-viable by design for most enemy encounters outside the first 2 chapters.
There's plenty to actually criticize remake for, and we've had a few good threads about changes to characters etc, but in general there really isn't much point to discussing the game right now because the vast majority of responses are in bad faith.
