RE2R was a damn good game. Mr. X was great, the characters and story were great, it's a good fucking game. I just prefer the original. Feels better to play, the tank controls fit the game better, the routes don't contradict each other.

Calling it now, it's gonna be better but much shorter in length, but Yas Forums will of course shit on it tenfold no matter what and act like the original's inferior mechanics are somehow better.

It did. It's a solid title in its own right but fails as a Remake. So while REmake replaces RE1, REmake 2 does not replace RE2.

They will make character look completely different from what we saw in Remake 2.
Don't you get it by now? They always change how characters look. They treat RE characters like "symbols", not actual people. Meaning that Jill Valentine, for example, can be portrayed by anyone. Idris Elba as Jill? Easy.

Ashley is the least attractive RE character.

I'm not too fond of crimson heads either but it's hard to deny just how much of an upgrade REmake is. It took away nothing and only added on top of it with an art direction so solid that it still looks fantastic today.

It fundamentally isn't. We could get in a debate over mechanics but the very fact that it's missing half a game is more than enough to state it's inferiority over the original.

Yas Forums's definition of "a real fan" for games is one I don't want to be labeled as. While I still play the original (well Directors Cut and the DS version) I'm not about to recommend someone new to the series to start there. I'll always recommend REmake over the originals due to how solid it is. Like I don't recommend people start with Metal Gear 2 but with MGS1 despite MGS1 basically being a remake of MG2.

I liked it, but my biggest issue with it was that I felt the modernized controls caused an unbalance with the zombies. You either had to dump a dozen bullets into their heads, or cheese every encounter and shoot their kneecaps to go past them. RE2 rewarded you for evading them correctly without making you waste ammo.
The modernized controls resulted in unbalanced enemies, inferior visual design, and this really bad control scheme where despite being able to strafe and shoot while moving, the game feels clunkier than the original.

For real tho it's the first remake I'm actually looking for. I was expecting the first remake treatment for 2 and 3, what we got was no bad but the specific changes in plot and gameplay hindered then for me, but these changes would be really welcomed in a 4 remake. I just hope they follow the 2 remake standard of overall quality and the only the improvements of 3.
