Just started playing. My first impression is that if you scrubbed out the name and said it was System Shock 3, I'd believe you.

It is such a good game. I have played system shock 2 and most of the fan made missions (namely christine's) multiple times, it is my favorite game along with Deus ex and Arx fatalis. I also highly enjoyed system shock 1 and I gotta say I was so pleasantly surprised with Prey I am so glad I was finally able to play it. The movement and gloo gun really elevate the formula to the next level. I hope you will have a good time, I sure did and I will shill this game forever!
Yeah its great, always will be GOTY 2017 for me youtu.be
Bioshock made a big deal out of being the spiritual successor to System Shock 2, but Prey feels like the game that actually deserved it.
It could've been better in a few areas but it's better than
>every bioshock
>every dishonored
And dare I say that I prefer this game to Deus Ex!?
Prey is infinitely closer to SS2 than Bioshock could ever hope to be
It really was a great game, even if I did find myself hoarding everything and using the wrench the whole time.
>And dare I say that I prefer this game to Deus Ex!?
Go ahead and say it, no shame in that.
The only good part of this game are the mimic creatures, but once you get fast and strong enough to just run past everything to your objective they might as well not exist. It was really let down by its shit house difficulty scaling, which in retrospect the original Bioshock did pretty well.
I don't know why they kept the Prey name when this game is nothing like the original Prey.
Except for Yas Forums nobody remembers OG Prey.
The reason they used the name Prey is because it sounded ok with it's themes and they owned the trademark.
>OG Bioshock did well
I beg to differ, the niggas turned into literal bullet sponges in hard. Very tedious. Not to say its not tedious in Prey, but atleast it is more fun since they are weaker.
BioShock is a brain-dead version of System Shock. They focus tested the game with complete idiots (modern console gamers) and progressively ripped more and more complexity out of the game until they liked it. You literally can't die, since you respawn in normal modes.
was this thing worth playing? i got to the part where the big fuckin alien starts hunting you and you can't kill it, it just comes back in like an hour or whatever and my interest in the game just deflated.
You inserted alien neuromods, didn't you?
I meant as you play through the game the difficulty stays pretty constant, none of the upgrades or new splicer powers trivalize the enemies.
>and you can't kill it
wrong. You can just hide somwhere for 1 minute or resolve it with lead. It's annoying at most
imagine being offered super powers and saying "no thanks"
he's fucking with you anyway, it shows up eventually regardless of neuromods.
If you get the time slow one that lets you go za warudo, it becomes pitiful to deal with. Or see
it just felt really artificial and pulled me out of the game. same for nemesis from resident evil. i don't like shit that puts me on a timer and punishes exploration and time wasting.
however i might just nut up and give it another go if the game was ultimately "good". i just put it down one day and forgot about it.
>main scientist is a nigger
>head of security is a woman nigger
>protagonist is Eliot Rodger hapa
>protagonist had a white woman love interest
>gay relationships in game
>lesbian relatioships in game
Fuck Bethesda and fuck you, OP.
Thats because it is System Shock 3, Bethesda just made them use the Prey name as part of a legal scam to fuck over the devs of Prey 2 and get all their money back along with all the assetts they made, now for free, to use in shit like the twin bulldyke wolfenstein game.
take a prozac, boomer
I really need to play it going full alien.
>Still has Denuvo
>All of their other games like Dishonored have removed it
Literally just started and you'd say its system shock? How so? The initial impression is very far removed from system shock 1 and 2. I think you never played those and just want a circlejerk.
>this creatively bankrupt utter dogshit
>System Shock
Fuck off, shill.
hmmm... I wonder which board you came from? and I wonder if you've had sex?
This game really could have used a Metroid Prime-style 3D map. With all of the hidey-holes and the exterior sections, it would have been neat.
I'm still mad at Todds sheer fucking audacity at this transparent hustle.
Have fun user.First time I encounterd Poltergeist i nearly shat myself.
Gameplay wise? Maybe. Everything else? It's not similar to SS games at all. Just keep "-Shock" prefix, let it be called something like NeuroShock or PsychoShock.
Why were the character models so fucking ugly in this game? The love interest cripple woman looked like her face was some partially melted mask just getting contorted when she spoke.
Love it
I played both, kid, several times each, actually. And if you could read, you would have noticed that I only compared Prey to SS2, NOT SS1 (which is a significantly different game).
I am still very sad that the game was not slower and more "survival" as it was in the early beta video, where every bullet counted.
