no

no, at least not for the games i played. Made me like 100% better at it

No for competitive games for sure.

no but anything more is definitely a meme.

what if you're not a competitive gaymin fag?

nah
iirc jet pilots were about to distinguish framerate change up to 210 or something crazy like that, 240hz is probably the hard cap.

could you clarify what you mean by "meme" please

Yes

Then 60 will be probably enough for you.

even if, you feel much more immersed and perceptive in a game with higher refresh rate.
I didn't know that, damn

what does competitive gaming have to do with a smoother gameplay experience? I swear everytime you animecucks post anything your retardlevel is going off charts. Kill yourself.

No, framerates beyond 60 are very noticeable, but past 120 FPS, you'll mostly get diminishing returns.

well the game i play is not competitive or online with other players but I still found 144hz to improve my experience

>competitive

it's one of those things where you won't really notice the difference if you start using it but if you stop using it you'll notice the difference and hate it
if you're thinking of getting it because "you'll get way better better at games" don't bother

say one more thing and I'll kill you

First it was 60hz and now it's 144hz. Both are a meme, literally no significant difference.

To reach perfect motion clarity, you’d need something like 1000 FPS, but obviously the benefits get hit hard by diminishing returns long before that. Hell, I’d personally argue that 60 FPS -> 80 FPS feels like a bigger jump than 80 -> 144 FPS already, not to even mention 144 -> 240.

CRTs were 120hz idiot and people noticed.

Only if you play a 1080P, anything above that would require you to spend a couple of grands

in the sense that 4k is a meme because the price increase is dramatic compared to the effect, and 4k support is spotty even now. average price for a 1080p/60Hz monitor is like $100-200 but most 1080p/144Hz monitors start at $300. if it were really not that big of an effect, that would make it a meme, wouldn't it?

No it's a frequency

No, 120hz in itself is a meme
What isn't a meme is variable refresh rate. That shit is the real reason to get a 120hz monitor

Out of all the games I play, I only go past 60fps in a handful. But not having to worry about screen tearing or input lag benefits every game I play.

Because you don't play single player games with low settings and even 2080ti won't give you 144fps in most modern games on ultras.

As someone who changed to 1440p ips 27" in 2012 when it was expensive as fuck and then 4k 30" ips a couple of years back
144hz+ adaptive synch is worth it for desktop usage alone. I wouldn't go below 1440p and definitely not back to TN

If you're getting a monitor today, it doesn't matter if you game or not, you definitely want 1440p, ips and 144hz+

Most of console ports run at 60 so why even bother.
I was really disappointed that nioh is hardcapped at 60

I got a 144hz monitor for like 100 bucks, it was a nice upgrade

You don’t need to hit 144 fps all the time if you use freesync/gsync, any improvements over 60 FPS are already noticeable and worth it. Hitting the 144 fps target is really only essential for competitive games (and those usually are trivially easy to run with such framerates), for anything else it’s enough to get somewhat stable 80-90 fps and it still feels very smooth.

monitor prices just got hard fucked by corona but I said fuck it and went ahead with a new one anyways
let's hope 144hz isn't a meme

>1440p, ips and 144hz+
It would probably cost a fortune, you will need gsync too.

No. Even the difference on your desktop is very noticeable.
60hz looks like laggy shit compared to it.

>you will need gsync too.
Thankfully GTX1000 series Nvidia GPUs support Freesync now too, so you can save quite a bit of moolah by skipping monitors with a gsync module and just picking up a freesync monitor that is verified to work fine with Nvidia GPUs. Something like LG 27GL83 shouldn’t cost too much despite featuring all that you really need.

*GTX1000 series and newer, of course

Playing DOOM Eternal on 1440p 144z is a dream.
