I also love Mario. In growing up, one must contend with seeing favorite franchises decline, sell out or perish over time, but Mario has always been here to deliver consistent top quality content. I'm glad he's so reliable.

We still haven't had like 3D Metroidvania type game.
Mario doesn't have any games that take advantage of the thrill of secrets and progression.

That's not a bad idea actually, but it could fall into the VR failure due to not everyone having a VR headset.
I guess the only thing to come close to that is the original Luigi's Mansion. But if it's spooky themed, it's probably going to be Luigi, now that he's typecasted as the "hilarious" timid ghost fighter

Oh man I had this big autistic idea years ago.
looks like I deleted the text file I saved back then but the gist of it is
>open world
>collect stars across the land
>visit iconic locations like DKs jungle, Luigis mansion, Peachs castle, Yoshis Island etc
>all scattered around are question mark blocks containing powerups that youll need to access some of the stars
>to unlock these blocks you need to defeat bosses and collect the big stars
>also you can unlock other characters to play as, from luigi to wario to rosalina

I'm so fucking tired of Mario Maker, it's nothing new, and the shit that it's mimicking is better then the sum.
I just want to see what the Mario team has been doing, I know they have an unannounced 2D game.
I'm a bit scared that the popularity of Mario Maker is gonna kill the 2D Mario innovation.
