Absolutely. The game isn't especially balanced, but it's not unbalanced in a way that makes the game less fun. It's the fun kind of unbalanced making you as broken as you want to be, but chances are your first playthrough rather than being broken you may struggle a bit.

several ff games like VI i think do a better job at immersion and telling a story but tactics is at least tied for best of all FF for gameplay.

Lore and setting were nice but I couldn't get along with the characters. They were so boring.

FF6 is the only complete mainline FF game, every other one does 1 or 2 things well and fail at everything else.

That's subjective since Final Fantasy by design is usually different every time and FFT is less of a Final Fantasy game than Bravely Default. I would agree that I like the gameplay and style more than most mainline FF games and its quality is higher than most of them overall.

I just started playing the phone port a few weeks ago. I've honestly spent more time just unlocking jobs and abilities with JP in the first 3 zones than actually playing the game, but I'm nearly done leveling all the jobs I want

I've finished every tactics game and never finished a mainline FF.

What's the definitive version of FFT?

I'm tempted to take a chance with the Japanese PSP version. Maybe I'll have an easier time understand what the characters are saying that way.

Its still my favorite or co-favorite among the mainlines with XI, but I know that is an extreme minority opinion.

The PSP version has a bunch of added stuff but if you're going to play it get the patch to remove the slowdown because the devs fucked up and magic animations cause the game to crawl to a snail's pace. I've heard the mobile version is also very good but >mobile

I really liked the DS game, but I thought the other ones weren't that good. FFT does have really good music and a entertaining story though.

The only thing FFT is missing is a hard mode. Once you beat Dorter the rest of the game is a cakewalk.

Yeah still my favorite FF by far. Making a beast tamer Ramza build with all monster teammates was fun
