original ff7 had great simplistic combat with many ways to permute and allow for many styles of play
ff7r you just auto attack and mash square like in kingdom hearts
ff14 you just press the dotted lines in your generic 10 button rotation
nu-final fantasy isn't good. ff12 and earlier are great.

This drives me fucking nuts. Even if you set another character as your party leader you still have to go throw the motions of the game shifting to that character at the start of battle and then resetting back to Cloud after it's over.

The tonberrys are squishy as fuck in that fight, one sorcerer storm from aerith wipes em, and they start off on the ground so you can get in close.
The sweepers are fucking criminal though, had to save limit breaks just for that part.
