RPGs with fighting game mechanics

Does any other game do this or something similar? Usually its rpgs that seem to bleed their mechanics into tons of other genres, but this seems like an interesting reversal, and a fun gimmick if nothing else.

No, because fighting game mechanics are fucking retarded.

Were you grinding to max level before WoR? That's a level 70 learn naturally and you can only manually learn it in late game.

Lisa

Legend of Legaia. The entire combat system revolves around it.

Real shame it stopped at 2.

I'm pretty sure you can use it it you know the input. Unless I am retarded.

No you can’t I just beat it a few weeks ago

This. If you get the accessory that turns the full arte set into button inputs, the game basically becomes Tekken.

I think you might be thinking of Symphony of the Night

I think you are right.

Zell's limit break in VIII was fun
Also not quite the same but Baten Katos Origins has a fast-paced battle system

Quarter circle inputs are considered hardcore by the average player

How? They're in like 50% of all video games from the 90s.

Correct me if I'm wrong but can't you do bum rush as LLUURRDDL?

The majority of players nowadays can't do a half circle motion on their pad. Face it, we're old.

So like how simple increasing stats and level ups in other games are rpg mechanics? Not like Sabin isnt a walking fighting game reference.
Which non fighting games are these?

It's the same kinda of people that think Xbox 360 or Gamecube controllers are good. How can they be good with such a shit D-Pad?

Yep, there's no need to do diagonals in any of them, the game will recognise adjacent cardinal directions as diagonals.

Man, I died several times in that Pummel tutorial.

Deepest lore?

Legend of Legaia is what you are looking for.

Tifa's were slot machine style.

damn, beat me to it.

There's also Hybrid Heaven but I have no fucking idea how to actually level up in that game

Tobol no. 1 is a fighter with a really sick dungeon crawl mode.
