If I dont like remake why would the prequel make me happier. Also I did play it. Its meh and doesnt really hold up well. Not bad but definitely overrated

Use 7th Heaven 2 as your mod manager. Be sure to get Remako (I believe it's called something like Field Textures in the 7th Heaven catalog) for upscaled backgrounds. Don't bother with field model mods, they look like shit against the backgrounds and with the animations intended for ultra low-poly models.

Honestly I should. FF7R is pretending to be an action game but constantly slows you down, pins you, makes you wait for the ATB gauge, and all kinds of other crap.

Use the PS1 core on Retroarch. Use a CRT shader. Play native resolution. This is the objective best way to play it if you don't have original hardware. High resolution PS1 destroys the SOUL.

I am right now. I got a copy of the SEA release twin pack for Switch a month or so ago and I've been playing it on and off. I was already not looking forward to the remake because it's not even a complete game, and the spoilers have only intensified that.

I pirated the 1998 PC version for the older versions of the mod manager and it worked with those. I would check the FAQ to see if that's changed since then though.
