Unskippable dialogue, otherwise it's perfect

I only played the Hugo storyline, on Nightmare. Was too difficult but I beat it anyway. Fuck the mantis boss. Should I play the other two, and what's the recommended difficulty?

Nothing?
It's the best in the series

Hugo is not enjoyable to play as.
That room with the gravity well is absolute horseshit on Nightmare.
True final boss took me fucking forever and I had to go back and grind a couple levels.

Hugo is a misogynist

you played it in the worst way already, if you liked it at all the other characters are significantly more fun

That more people haven't experienced it.

>Fact
nomen est omen

Nothing, it's the best in the series and Yunica is best girl.

>Hugo is not enjoyable to play as.
Okay, slight qualifier: ignoring Hugo's scenario, it's the best game in the series.

Not even, he's just a tool.
>Acts smug and cool when he just has a brother complex
>Goes through a Sasuke-esque evil turn development that happens almost instantly
>Immediately regrets it like a bitch and has to be saved by the girl who he was sassing mere moments ago
>Gameplay is terrible
He's shit.

If it's your first Ys then normal is fine. Also yes, Yunica and Toal are great and much better than Hugo.

Absolutely nothing, best game in the series.

Not my first Ys obviously, it's also one of the easier ones in my opinion. Only played 1 and 2 along with Origin tho

nothing, it's the last good ys game

HEY GUYS DID YOU KNOW OATH AND ORIGIN ARE THE BEST GAMES IN THE SERIES? DID YOU KNOW ORIGIN WAS THE LAST GOOD YS GAME? YS DIED AFTER ORIGIN YOU KNOW, BY THE WAY NOTHING WILL EVER BE AS GOOD AS THOSE TWO SO DON'T EVEN TRY THEY'RE LITERALLY PERFECT GAMES AND EVERYTHING AFTER HAS BEEN SOULLESS SHIT

that's what went wrong

I mean if you got through Hugo's on Nightmare then you'll be able to do the same for the other two since they're not as hard. Maybe knock it down a level if it's just not fun.
I also wouldn't say it's one of the easiest, the Party Ys games probably take that one. It's easier than some though and it's got a better designed difficulty curve and less bullshit bosses than Ys I at least. If you like the gameplay but would appreciate a bit more challenge then definitely try Felghana once you're done.

based, fuck oathfags, ys 2 is the best ys game, there's nothing wrong with the party system

Alright, Hard mode it is then thanks

It has three openings, and only one of them are worth not skipping, especially on repeat playthroughs.
Also That said, this game is amazing and it's a bummer that it's the last of its kind.

I personally don't even feel like it's an issue of soul/soulless, I just legitimately don't like the party system. I've tried to get into it a few times but I just don't have any fun with it and then I stop playing

> this game is amazing and it's a bummer that it's the last of its kind
I feel I need to clarify: In like the fact that Ys Origin, and the other Napishtim games by extension, are funky top-down action platformers, and wish there were more games of that type. I don't have an issue with latter Ys, as I haven't played them yet, save Seven, which is pretty enjoyable.

Party is fine but it's time for something new. Note that I said something new, not bring back Oath-style or bumper style. Innovation is what would be nice.

This but unironically.

FF > Ys

False, if for nothing else than because Final Fantasy is terrified of being Final Fantasy. It's like Square took the common criticism of turn based combat and melodrama to heart, and is going through a long lasting identity crisis.

celceta is mindless easy, 8 kicked it up atleast a bit even if it never reaches the challenge of felghana

>I like the mediocre games in the series and I don't like feeling bad when people tell me they're mediocre
Ok

I'm stuck on that absolute cunt of a fire boss, gotta unscrew his hands or some shit.

The bosses seem to be way more gimmicky than OiF.

Eh, they're pretty hard to compare. Personally I prefer Captain Commando.
