I cant defeat the final boss, why is an old geezer in a bathrobe so hard?

third phase is cake walk, just lame it out til you see hes charging his lightning amd air counter for like 1/5 of his hp. phase 1 can be cheesed if you get him stuck in a swing parry swing parry chain other wise the moveset is pretty hard to counter, phase 2 has easy mikiris, just dont get too caught up by his flurry

This is an undefeatable strategy that will ruin the fight for you, but if you honestly can't cope,
1. Defeat Genichiro normally, fuckboi should be no issue after you've fought him this many times.
2. Phase 1 Slave Knight Gehrman of the Abyss isn't especially difficult, doesn't punish you too hard and can be fought head-on with parries and whatnot. This will be the hardest part of the fight, so just give it a few tries until you memorize the moveset.
3. In phase 3 and 4, if you move too far from the boss, he does a leaping attacking with his spear. Sprint away from the boss and circle him to avoid the gunshots, moving slightly further/closer to bait the leap. Once you see him go airborne, run TOWARDS him.
This will make him land behind you. Charge up a basic sword attack, and poke him.
It will do around 3-5%.
4. Repeat this until dead for both phase 3/4. He cannot counter directly after landing if you hit him, and none of his other attacks will reach you at far range besides the leap. Ignore the lightning, avoid the bullets,, rinse and repeat for about 15 minutes to just take down his healthpool stab by stab until victory.

Umbrella is a better, safer, and faster strategy.

The safe approach to his second phase is staying out of his combo's range and waiting for the thrust at the end which you should mikiri.

I really didn't understand why people said he was so hard. i think i tried a few times one night, took a break, and then the next day prepared for this long grueling that was gonna take up most of my day and then he was dead in 20 minutes. I had a harder time with the demon desu

This but with two amendments to make it even easier and quicker.
In phase 1 Isshin run around him in circles at midrange and you can bait him into doing his 3 hit string at thin air, which you can punish with a normal R1. It’s tedious but it guarantees you go into phase 2 without getting hit. In phase 2 bait the jumping attack but block it (and the follow up) with the umbrella and use projected force to punish it. Does way more damage, and you won’t need any emblems for Genichiro or phase 1 so might as well use them here.

If From wanted us to do it the fun way they shouldn’t have made it 4 fucking phases.
