bad because linear.
Bad because linear
It's one of the least linear FFs though.
I keep saying FFXII was basically the end of the series with its overly linear corridors and false sense of freedom. That's why we got games like FF13 afterwards, because they knew they could get away with it
>the end of the series
>overly linear corridors and false sense of freedom
But that's FF in a nutshell.
Is Zodiac Age worth $49.99 on Microsoft Store? I’ve bought and got rid of the game several other times but if I ever get it again, I plan to see it through
No, previous FF weren't as linear and at least you had some sidequests and you could explore around. In this game there was nothing except pressing up and watch the next cutscene. There is nothing happening in this game.
>Microsoft Store
Don't do that to yourself.
this game fucking sucks, I think I like it less than 13/15. i couldn't even finish it even with 4x speed, everything about the game is incredibly boring. It's a shame because I love dragon age/xenoblade so much and wanted to like 12
There's nothing wrong with linear games.
Several of my favorite games are very linear.
but this game is more linear than the others. It's not interesting when the only option you have is to press forward. That's not what Final Fantasy should be
have you ever played ffx? it's literally a bunch of corridors and zero exploration with almost no side content, at least ff12 has hunts you can take a break from the story with
>almost no side content
X has one of the highest amount of side content material in the series, what are you on about?
side content you have to wait until the end of the game to even take part in, you cant even go back and explore shit til you get the airship 75% into the story. you can teleport anywhere in ff12 whenever you want basically
>FFXII
>linear
I don't even like the game and I can still smell your bullshit, are you a butthurt Lightningfag user? 'cuz you sound like a butthurt Lightningfag.
FFX has the most amount of side content in the series. It's far less linear than FF12 was by far. You can't do anything but progress the story in FF12, it's not even a game
XII isn't not really linear. XIII is linear.
>You can't do anything but progress the story in FF12
literally the same in 10, until you get about 80% through the game
>12 is linear
>10 isn't linear
when did i cross over to an alternate timeline
how is this different from XII then? most of its shit is at the end, the hunts are akin to calm lands content. X at least has blitzball and other mini games to do before then
But there was so much to do in the game that you even forget what you were supposed to do.
Nigga, you can unlock Mosphoran Highwaste early as fuck. There's also Zertinan Caverns in the sandsea.
You can play blitzball, chocobo racing and dodging lightning in FF10 and they take you a long time to complete. What can you do in XII? I completed it in 25 hours and sold it when X took me 120.
XII ended the series right here and there because of the lack of content and linearity. Five fucking years of waiting for an anemic MMO
When the time jannies forgot to clean up
>most of its shit is at the end
Huh, only thing that gets unlocked near the end is the special hunter quests(I forgot the name) which is a great incentive for you to go back and explore all the world if you haven't done so before.
majority of the side dungeons are available near the end
12 was always the more linear game since the start. You could five things in 10 by the time you could do one in 12. 10 is bigger, has more content and better world building and lore.
You have got to be the most delusional ffX shitter I've ever seen on this goddamn board
kek
>false sense of freedom
Yup that is literally all of FF. The overworld was never freedom, ever. You walk around on it but you have a clear destination and most other things are blocked off until the story lets you go there. And sideshit that you can do exists in every FF, it's still always linear.
Muh linear bad is the biggest brainlet argument people bring up against FFX etc.
10 was the ultimate realization of everything the series worked towards. It cut the fat and focused on the fun stuff immediately with the best battle system in the entire series. FFXII made you walk five times more for five times less content
That's why I hated FF12 until I suddenly loved it when I played a version that let me speed up the walking
That's it. That's the thread that made me realize that I died a long time ago and I'm living in a glitched simulation.
In what fucking world? It has some of the most open map design in the series. Your rarely blocked off from going to places WAY earlier than you should be usually only by high level enemies but smart play avoiding enemies often allows you to get to later areas and obtain equipment and such MUCH earlier than intended. The Sandsea just as an example gave you 3 different ways to progress with an optional area. FF2 did something similar with most of the world map being gated off by monsters that will one shot you but it's there, 12 just allows you to explore areas earlier much easier.
Continued in next post because I spent too long replying to your garbage bait
It's... linear?
Do 12 year olds even know what 'linear' means?
It's bad because it's a bad game.
Both wrong. The one which started this shit is X.
XIII built up on the disaster that X was.
Wrong. The story was linear but the small dungeons and stuff were never a single line/corridor/hallway. That shit started with X
>inb4 posting a zoomed out ff7/8/9 background
In a thread earlier today someone actually argued "well in XII they have more turns and exits but they're still linear corridors!"
Wouldn't be surprised if it was OP
>I completed it in 25 hours and sold it when X took me 120.
Let me preface this by saying FFX is probably my 2nd favorite FF after 5 where as 12 is probably on the middle lower end somewhere but no you fucking didn't and you didn't touch any of the side content then. Both games take about just as long to 100%. You are being disingenuous as fuck. I could easily finish the main story of X in 30-35 hours going at a casual pace. X only takes so long to 100% because the post game is padded out by HOURS of sphere grinding and reforming the sphere grid. You can have just about everything barring the arena in 60-70 hours pretty easily then you spend another 40 at least grinding arena bosses. Even with the 4x speed up on the PC version I still spend at least 20 hours grinding arena creations.
>You can play blitzball, chocobo racing and dodging lightning and they take you a long time to complete
Hahaha no they fucking do not besides Blitzball
>Blitzball
Tedious fucking slog that is completely trivialized by the Jecht Shot. Once you get decent players your team becomes so powerful its impossible to lose and your just begging for those 40-50 some games (if you use the data reset correctly) you need to play to get Wakka's overdrives and sigil to be over. I ended up dropping the game for a few weeks preparing for the Dark Aeons because it was so fucking boring and Wakka's Attack Reels is just too good to pass up.
>Chocobo racing
Can be easily completed in an hour depending on how good you are at dodging the birds, FF7's chocobo racing has way more depth because you actually have to breed them. FFX's is just a few static mini-games you go through.
>Dodging lighting
Takes 20 minutes at worst if you know the right spot and get all the dodges your first try. Its so fucking laughable that you bring up 2 of the worst sigils to get that are universally hated as meaningful side content.
>inb4 posting a zoomed out ff7/8/9 background
Guess I don't have to anymore now because you destroyed your own post
>12 is linear
>10 isnt linear
you redditors are fucked in the head
Except that IX and X were both like that first.
>linear corridors
12 has the most complex dungeons in the series.
