How did it get to the point where gamers just let companies like Bethesda etc. get away with ripping them off beyond belief and gamers are happier than ever about it?

This happens a lot on Yas Forums too, and I don't want to believe it's just some influx of social media marketing because who would be stupid enough to try to market to Yas Forums.
But it definitely is and I hate it.

People genuinely think corporations are their friends. Just look at Pokemon, faggots started #pokepositivty and #thankyougamefreak trends on twitter for the very purpose of drowning out criticism Sword and Shield was getting, despite what they tell you.

But how did this psychology among consumers occur? I've never seen such a segment of customers that defend the companies that give them progressively shittier products for a bigger cost? Is this just a successful psychological conditioning or are gamers just weak willed people who will take any shit that gets given to them?

With such strong sales, pokemon is beyond saving. Next game will be rehash like ultra sun with little to no improvement.

Brand loyalty doesn't just happen with vidya. You can take courses in colleges for marketing that teach you about cultivating brand loyalty. Combine that with a consumerist mindset, and people really do end up with things like
>People genuinely think corporations are their friends
and feel the need to defend them against any takedown by people who are reasonable and think "It's just a product, bro."

because its not like they can do anything about it
normalfags will always outnumber the "gamers" which establishes a simple relationship of "you need them" rather than the other way around
its essentially perfectionalized form of slavery through capitalism

Because money = value
If somethings expensive it's obviously good

So it's just successful brand loyalty and marketing? That's why gamers are basically in a Stockholm syndrome with companies?

like most things in life, there's no single answer, but both of those are definitely a part of it.

gaming isn't niche anymore so casual scattershot is the most cost effective way to develop. inside that general appeal you scoop up faggots with no standards that just want to be part of what's going on in the zeitgeist at the moment and would have to deconstruct their whole personality to objectively criticize anything - it's just a fact of life.

It happens with a lot of media. If it doesn't directly affect your livelihood or health, you'll see that people excuse a lot just for that sense of connection.

So how do you explain literal giant companies constantly being forced to change, amend and bend over backwards for progressives on twitter whenever a progressive tweets something at them? Like we've seen tons of examples of a simple random blue tick leftist on twitter bringing up a non issue and making it into a thing and companies rush to make amends and bend over espeically if some article is written about it.

So tell me again how is it small ultra vocal group of people can't change companies again when we've seen it happen plenty?

Echo chambers, my dude. Echo chambers.

So why can't we recreate those same tactics and use them on gaming companies? All it takes is a big outcry, some media writing an article and a boycott and it usually works for any other company. How are we any different? If anything we're less of a minority, with twitter progressives they are a small radical group, gamers there's tons of them.

Car people are really bad about this, granted a car can’t get away as being completely dog shit to the degree games can, but still. You’ll find 70 year old men that just swear by Ford their whole lives or some shit and will actively get into fights with someone for even driving a different brand of vehicle

It's fun and it makes Yas Forumsirgins seethe

They 100% market on Yas Forums. The dinosaur shit in BF3 and Yas Forums on a newspaper in it is more than just an accident.

It's also the desire to be a part of a group of people. I cannot fathom the drone nature of it. There's companies I like and I trust to deliver a decent product but I am not a veritable crusader for them. I can happily explain what I have an issue with for a game or company I buy from but GOOD GOD you fucking criticize blizzard and people act like you just shit on their mother. Bethesda used to have that too.

you have it wrong, they dont bend over, they define the shift, if you think "le sjws" control these corps and making them bend over you're dellusional, those people have absolutely no power what so ever
its either usually upper echalons of corporation wanting to shift society in particular direction (maybe because of their own personal beliefs or because they will benefit in some way) because they have the power to do so and you cant do shit about it other than boycott their product which in individual cases does not matter to the corporation anyway as it can just buy demand for their product by marketing

there are tons of reactionary anti-negativity faggots out there who think that any form of criticism is a personal attack against whoever the criticism is directed toward, who think that saying "this game interrupts the gameplay with irrelevant bullshit too much" is somehow the same as "jun maeda is a piece of shit and i hope he dies a painful death"
fanboys are not intelligent people. they're also not a majority, you can generally just ignore them. they'll suck cock no matter what, it's not worth engaging them.

People still make fun of this dude? He's married for christs sake

To be fair, the flip side of the coin has its own sort of collectivism to it. You develop this sort of anti-corp 'street cred' based on how loudly you hate the unpopular company of the month, even if you enjoy part or parcel of their current title. There are people who bond just as much over how anti-AAA they are as who bond over their favorite game company, regardless of the trash they've received.
Note that I'm not saying you're like this, but fandom connections work that way, even if it's an anti-fandom.

errr i meant masuda
idk why i said the guy who wrote clannad instead

>gamers
*normalfags masquerading as gamers

Zoomers

i don't do this shit too much work , but its always with flavour of the month the same bullshit

What? All I ever see online is anti-beth shit since fo76 (even though it should have been after 4) and anti-EA etc.

Things being popular doesn't make them automatically good or immune from criticism

How come everytime when this image pops up its always wrong and incorrect? Or is that the joke?

Because video games aren’t going to change due to a small minority of angry gamers on an anonymous image board. So people just try to enjoy shit instead. You should try it. Who is really winning here?

My theory is that corporations have been running psy-ops for a very long time. Be it through advertisements, campaigns, and outright undercover shilling, they slowly convince people at a young age that corporations are their friends and that we should give them free reign to do whatever they want. Disney is basically the king of this, which is exactly what they leaned on every time they subverted and corrupted copyright laws. This compacted with our current culture of "combating evil toxic masculinity" in which criticism is seen as a part of it. People just want hugboxes to reaffirm their own beliefs, and want all dissenting views banned.

It's all collided into a perfect shitstorm of mass mindless conumers and their consumption of whatever corporations tell them to eat. You can tell this behavior apart from normal enjoyment of a product by over-zealous asshole fanboys who treat even the smallest criticism like an insult against their family.

But we've seen examples of it though? Certain products get pulled off shelf's is a twitter outrage is big enough. I'm not saying they straight up run them but they seem to have the most outside pull on their decision making on certain issues. They rule over them in certain situations over the threat of PR damage of the company.

>Who is really winning here?
Jews who make more money for less effort each and every thanks to idiots like you.

>Who is really winning here?
Todd.

How else do you generalize people who play video games? Autists? le gaymer bois? Company simps?

anyone criticizing game companies just gets called an incel or whatever by the shills
>it's just a game!
>incel!
>why do you care so much!
>loser!

people who play games are just people who play games , not gamers
just like people who read books aren't bookers or whatever retarded word would somebody come up with

>How else do you generalize people who play video games? Autists? le gaymer bois? Company simps?
I call them faggots.

The average age of gamers has dropped a lot.

I'm the victor here if a small bit of criticism causes you such severe agony that you barge into every thread and threaten to kill people if they ever talk bad about your favorite company.

Mentally I've got you walking on thin ice over nothing.

He's pathetic. He's the butt of every beta white male, cuck, simp, man child, virgin gamer type of insult/joke. He hasn't helped us optically at all.

I think it’s a side effect of the current social climate being so divided and polarizing. You either have to love something and be a “stan”, or you hate this shit and wish it would die. Two sides of the extreme are growing, which is shrinking. I’m not trying that being a le epic centrist is the right way, it’s that trying to remain neutral or pulling good from both sides is more frowned on.

It’s like you don't have a radical belief you don’t matter

Yeah but its kinda already set into stone that gamers = people who play video games so why even try and fight the vocabulary side of it? Just complicates things, people don't want to say "people who play games" when they can quickly say gamers.

normalfag infiltration followed by reverse gatekeeping. overwhelms generally low self esteem fringe autists who then either capitulate completely or bounce off so hard they become elliot rogers and nobody can take their walls of text seriously.

maybe 1% remain rational human beings and that isn't enough to affect design trends.

>set in stone
by fucking who? the retarded ign and whatever other shit webpages you read?

Moderate side is shrinking*

Yeah we see it but there isn't a majority stance on it with action taken. Its just a 50/50 it seems, even if its 60/40 who hate it no action gets taken and Bethesta never change or listen. We need better ways of getting them to listen/change

Time to take your pills

Companies do something customers dislike and rage against
Another Company does something worse
First Company goes "Hey we aren't doing [Thing #2], we're only doing [Thing #1]"
At which point [Thing #1] becomes normalized and accepted by most gamers, if with some grumbling.

Defeatist mentality. No wonder zealots on twitter are the ones making real changes/waves in culture. Their the ones who are out there fighting every battle online and even irl sometimes to sway things to their side.

Just dont buy games you dont like retards

because most gamers are just stupid consoomer normies who buy no matter what these companies do, there’s also large amount of people who don’t pay any attention to what’s going on and just buy the game when they see it pop up on the store or shelf and just buy it with no research, these companies know this so they just do whatever they want

the only way to stop this is to stop buying from these publishers, but most of you won’t do that because you have consoom brain

Attached: 1C8F14F4-F6FE-498F-AFFC-444A0628DE0C.jpg (1024x504, 93.74K)

already doing it. shit only gets worse

WHy don't you report me for wrongthink? I'm sure Mr. Corporation will help make a nice hugbox for you.

Attached: engi dabs on haters.jpg (194x259, 7.18K)

>games created for normies
>normies have money to spare, if a game is unplayable just purchase another
/thread.

Society and culture, have you been living under a rock or you're just acting naive for some reason? It's how it is, just like people saying "google it" nobody spazzes out saying
"WELL WHAT IF I HAVE FIREFOX? WHY CAN'T WE JUST SAY LOOK IT UP ON THE INTERNET HUH???"

Because they think of Companies as friends

these

Pre Spanish civil war vibes anyone?

I always cringe when I see these on someone’s window.

Either gamer just means a person who plays games, or gamer is the most pathetic fucking identity you can have and Yas Forums used to agree with me on that almost unanimously only a couple years back

>Buy game you think will be fun
>Autists on a not so obscure image board cry and claim you're doing it because of brand loyalty because (irrelevant shit)

Consoomer or whatever is the shittiest "meme" in years.
