What are you, retarded? There are lots of changes from the original game, and lots of additions too. They expanded Sephiroth's role to make him more involved in the events that make up the game. It's not that fucking deep.

Time travel, dimension hopping, astral connection to his future/past self, divine intervention, whatever you wanna call it doesn't change the core concept of "this ain't a normal Sephiroth as he's somehow aware of and wants to change the original FF7 story"

having visions of the future does not fucking imply time travel, you literal monkey. The entire party gets visions when you blow up parts of the Whisper Harbinger, and Sephiroth has a connection to the Whispers that is a mystery to the player. It's possible they're in the Lifestream and he's absorbing their power - which he appears to do at the end of the game when you kill the Whisper Harbinger. There are tons of possible explanations for this. At literally NO POINT of the game is it implied he is a time traveller.

Dumbfuck, we all know that changes were made. The question is, "What is Sephiroth's role in this "remake?" What is his new function?

It's mostly kept as a mystery because at this point of the story, in both the original and in the new game, you don't know. But you can guess. Both before and at the end of his boss fight the party can see meteor, so he's still planning that most likely. It's also possible he baited Cloud and company into killing the Whisper Harbinger to unshackle the world from fate and open up the possibility of him succeeding in his ultimate goal. He seems to absorb the power of the Whisper Harbinger after you kill it, so it's possible he wanted to gain the power to control destiny itself.

It's all fucking mysterious and vague and left open for interpretation because this is a series. There are still revelations to be had in future games.
