>One of the most iconic villain ever, the Darth Vader of video game
>Turned into a fujobait with a Sasuke tier personality in all subsequent iteration of the character, to the point I can't see him without cringing hard anymore
Is there a more tragic fall from grace in vidya?
One of the most iconic villain ever, the Darth Vader of video game
Other urls found in this thread:
Crisis core he was a pretty nice guy
sephiroth was never a good villain or character, people only like him cause FFVII is baby's first rpg
Cloud went from Yippie-kay-yay and getting over living a false life in a few minutes to an emo
That being said, Sephiroth was always fujobait.
He's not even the main villain of his game. He was used by Mojo and Jenova, just like everyone else. And being used is about the only thing he has in common with Darth Vader. He's really a shit villain. Play Suikoden II if you want to see what he should have been.
Yeah he's not a super interesting character with deep motivations for sure, but that was the presentation of the character that did the deal.
He has an insane amount of build up, everyone talk about him and you can feel his presence through the game but he rarely shows up.
Thee scenes where you find president Shinra corpse or when you find the giant snake impaled makes him terrifying without even knowing who or what he is
And when he do shows up you're filed with dread, until he fucking kill Aerith, one of the main character
In comparison in the remake you see him being gay for Cloud in the first 45 minutes of the game
This.
>Get killed by Cloud
>You are now dead
>Decide to go back in time, alive, and stop Cloud from killing you
This makes no fucking sense
Cope
Welcome to Kingdom Hearts
Why does anyone even respect Sephiroth?
I mean, Cloud tossed his ass around with level 1 retard strength.
I'm sorry, an IMPALED Cloud tossed Sephiroth's ass around using level 1 retard strength.
Everyone always creams themselves over Sephiroth, but Cloud was the real beast.
>t. XxXSepH1r0thXxX
Have you ever heard of those moms that are able to lift cars when their children are in danger?
This is the same thing, except with spiky haired anime men.
>pretty good for what he was in VII
>interesting in Crisis Core where we see him pre-insanity
>shit in literally everything else
What a shame.
He always whas that
When exactly did they make it into a Ganon/Link thing where only Cloud can defeat Sephiroth?
"Cloud... Do you remember that time I stabbed you and you lifted up my sword and tossed me into the lifestream?"
"No, not at all. Why didn't you just let go of the sword?"
"F...faggot."
The people at square should be producing episodes of Naruto and that's it.
Sephiroth is not a good villain in the sense that he's compelling or even interesting; honestly, I don't even like him. But how he manages to be menacing, like a force of nature, is what attracts people about his character. When you here "Sephiroth was here" and then there's a huge snake impaled on a tree, it leaves an impact.
People don't die in ff7. Their soul is sucked into the lifestream. Sephiroth was so mad that he died, that his/jenovas presense in the lifestream let him go back in time for a redo.
I'm not saying it's not stupid, but it makes sense in the context of ff7s fucked lore.
I never understood how cloud was able to increase his mass or locally increase the downward force due to gravity to force himself impaled on sephiroth's sword down to the ground from a suspended state. Maybe that's why wedge survives in the remake, to show how he and cloud form an essence bond and can freely swap masses at will.
Why is there so much fucking gay tension between cloud and sephrioth. That tension was not there in the original game. Fuck I hate what videogames have become.
No shit Sherlock, the original ff7 was released in 97. No fucking body was an experienced jrpg connoisseur at that time.
He was the Broly of jrpg villains. He wasn’t actually very interesting, but the fact that he physically appeared only twice in the original game and had some iconic flashback sequences made him have this looming presence in the original. It worked. They fucked it all up in the compilation and FF7RE by shoving him in as many scenes as they possibly can
maybe because he didn't travel through time, retard? At no point is this even hinted, let alone stated
at BEST you could say that Sephiroth has some kind of future sight, and that could be down to the fact that the Whispers presence on the planet has infused the Lifestream with the same kind of visions of the future the party gets when you break pieces of the Whisper Harbinger
wait, why am I bothering to correct you? You didn't play the game, none of you did. You're getting mad about third-hand informaiton you heard on the internet through Chinese Whispers, and don't give a shit about what's actually in the game, which is vague and open for interpretation
>the Darth Vader of video game
SPBP
>That tension was not there in the original game.
hahahahahahahhahahahahahahahah cloud literally has sephiroth's dna inside him
Retard. Sephiroth is probably the greatest example in videogames on how to make a villain and showcase how powerful and menacing they can be
>the party spends an hour climbing and struggling against Shinra forces at their HQ
>Sephiroth comes in and easily murders everyone including the antangonist you spent the entire beginning of the game fighting against
>the entire focus of the game changes to tracking him down because the party understands how dangerous he is
>that fight against the dragon in the flashback where Cloud gets btfo but Sephiroth OHKO's it
>having to spend an hour the first time trying to get past the giant snake only to see Sephiroth impales it easily
>Cloud constantly haunted by him in flashbacks
>of course murders Aerith
It's shit like that that makes him stand out from your usual shitty videogame villain that appears, taunts the party, and disappears like a mustache twirling cartoon character.
>t. people who probably never even played the original game
He has enough depth and intrigue behind him that people are still debating today if he's merely controlled by JENOVA or if Sephiroth is powerful enough that he's controlling her
This. I really liked sepiroth in that game.
Advent children is to blame of this.
