I'm about 2 hours into this shit and it's just boring as hell. Not really seeing why people rave about this game am I missing something?
When does it get fun?
It's an extremely grindy single player MMO. It never gets fun.
The gameplay is nearly perfect and mastering it is endlessly fun and rewarding. Many of the fans are autistic addicts who just have nothing else to do, though.
Game ain't for you, pal.
when you start playing switch axe
Try all the weapons and use the ones you find fun, just started the game recently and found it boring at first but everything just clicked and got super hooked after killing my first Anjanath
I'm just not seeing the appeal it at the moment. Of all the weapon types there really just isn't one that's sticking out at me.
I guess not user, a shame since I've played freedom unite and really enjoyed that quite a bit
You misspelled ChargeBlade, user.
>2 hours into this
End game is decent fun because you don't have to watch any of the cutscenes anymore.
World is probably the slowest MH game to get going because it only stops holding your hand after you hit the credits.
I ruined the game for myself by using HBG and playing it as a third person shooter. Nothing really felt as fun as loading up on traps and bullets and shooting down elder dragons. It's really hard to want to use melee now, even LBG is a chore.
Yeah i guess that's the issue im having at the moment. the only other game from the series i've played was freedom unite and that was great for just kind of letting you go and do what you wanted. Having to sit and listen to handler and matt mercer is kind of doing my head in
>only 2 hours in and passing judgement on the game
What the hell is wrong with you? I get that that's the Steam refund period, but come on, man.
Anyway, this. I recommend you look up a video guide for whatever weapon you're the most interested in, or at least pay close attention to the weapon guide in the Hunter's Notes. The weapons tend to have a lot more nuance to them than what's on the surface, particularly in Iceborne, as well as multiple playstyles. The same's true for hunts/fighting the monsters themselves, how you set up your gear (this becomes far more pertinent later into the game), etc. If you're only 2 hours in, you haven't even remotely begun to experience any of that, and you haven't even had anything resembling an actual challenge yet.
Bought the game at launch. I tried to play it alone and in a group. Both sucked
ranged weapons are babbymode and trivialize the game. no wonder you ruined the game for yourself
>found the weapon you enjoy the most
>ruined the fun
Not sure what you're trying to say here
MONSTER HUNTER THREAD
What aren't you enjoying exactly?
>I'm enjoying this game
>But I'm also not enjoying this game
dude
>muh Reddit blade xD
So tired of you World fetuses.
World is shit. iceborne is better but still not very good. A thing that made MH so fun and soulful was playing in a big community and helping others online. Now the online mode is trash and everyone cheats items in anyway, plus the game is literally easier when you play solo now.
it's a farce.
What a truly awful post
literally impossible wtf???
There's like 15 other weapons that I don't care about, plus I'm over 900 hours into the content. I guess I'm just sad that it's over.
It's just a grind-heavy korean mmo
As someone that's played every game in the series, World is the best and most well developed. I don't think you've even played it; just another butthurt faggot cause it can't run on the Switch.
>There's like 15 other weapons that I don't care about
And why should that be a problem as long as you enjoy what you're doing?
I couldn't give less of a shit about GS myself, never did since MHF, and yet I enjoyed most games in the series while virtually never touching entire weapon types, you're not forced too either, they're there to cater to different people in the first place and offer a way for everyone to enjoy the game in their own way.
That said, a lot of people tend to stick to one or two weapons for a long time, then suddenly something ticks and they begin playing other types and have fun, so it might be the same for you too.
For instance, I never bothered with HH until 3U myself and now I enjoy playing with those from time to time, Iceborne also reignited my lost love for Swaxe and Hammer.
Just play what you find fun user, don't let anyone convince you you're playing the game "wrong" or that you should do something you don't like.
Honestly my enjoyment is probably being most killed by how hand holdy it is and having to listen to these awful fucking characters.
Bowguns aren't a bad weapon to exclusively play since each ammo type gives you a twist on the play style. I've always been the same since longsword was added to MH but I forced myself in iceborne to branch out a bit when safi came out and ended up liking LBG, GL, and GS a lot. I still mostly play LS but I play a bit of those on the side and make sets for them now.
>900 hours in
Let it go, you got all you could out of it
It's to start because they wanted to introduce new fans, but it's still not as slow as the Generation games, which required loads of mushroom gathering before even fighting a monster. If you dont know what you're doing with a weapon and you're just mashing then you wont have fun. Learn combos and when to attack and retreat; you'll need it once you get past the basic monsters.
The difference is that MH has actual gameplay instead of boring-ass MMO number simulator combat. The only MMOs I've played that come close are PSO2 and Vindictus (which, in fairness, is Korean).
I played every monster hunter game until today starting with freedom on psp, and i can say that world is the best of them all. Tri and unite come after it.
The weapon for Chads. Based user, mastering guard points is super satisfying
The first 5 hours or so do baby you a lot and there's no way around it. If that's your main issue though I say stick with it, 2 hours into this game is next to nothing. Just try out different weapons and enjoy exploring the maps and seeing cool monsters.
You're 2 hours into a 200 hundred hour game (without the iceborne expansion, which is definitely worth it). The tutorials end soon. If you just want to hunt then go on an expedition or do hunts that unlock equipment.
Base World? It's absolute garbage in nearly every way. Iceborne is the one where I'd agree is the most polished but as I said, the online mode brings it down by a lot. You literally don't have a full list of rooms anymore but the algorithm makes it so you can only see a handful of SOS quests and lobbies. Right now I can barely even find Furious Rajang quests per SOS search, which is beyond ridiculous.
And even Iceborne is full of flaws anyway.
900 hours for 60 bucks sounds good to me, dawg.
>plus I'm over 900 hours into the content.
What an ugly, reeking freak you must be.
I had a friend new to the series and I already knew how bad the start was so I played it for him while he did other shit just to try and give a better impression.
The beginning is so awful and the added story elements and cutscenes are unbearable to me. The fun is when you are being challenged and fighting strong monsters Unfortunately that takes a little time.
I understand that iceborne adds new shit like new combos for weapons, do you just straight up not get them if you don't own the dlc?
That you'd even post that dumbshit list just proves that you're another whiny Yas Forums faggot that can't enjoy video games anymore.
Made for sexual
>do you just straight up not get them if you don't own the dlc?
Yep, you need IB if you want all the new shit.
>world is the best
No, especially base world.
Get some fresh air and shill. It's jus a (heavily flawed) video game. Something tells me you take it so seriously because you invested way too much time in it or games in general.
Try to go out some more with friends, or in a movie with your girlfriend.
You are right about the online features, but everything else is a straight upgrade, or a tradeoff to better fit the vision of a living, breathing world. World is what MH was originally supposed to be, and while I too appreciate the classic style, MHW is amazing for what it brings to the franchise.
You dont get the clutch claw or extra moves if you don't own the expansion, no. The base game isn't as challenging as the expansion though, so you dont need the extra tools.
>2 hours
*chuckles*
Kind of agree with this as much as I dislike a lot of things about World.
It's clearly a massive step forward on all fronts coming from the old gens, so it was inevitable to have a lot of garbage mixed in with the good stuff, I like the general direction they're going for, especially after X/XX, the next game will surely iron out a lot of the issues with World, Iceborne already showed that.
>still hasn't 100% cheevos
how hard is getting 100% for MHW? I'm shooting for it at 440 hours in. Have only 75 out of 100 cheevos so far
The fucking jump from base World to Iceborne is absolutely insane, looking back I have no idea how we put up with "lmao just TED farm for random deco drops" for endgame
quite difficult due to the crown system
Is there layered version of the Rose armor?
