The theory that Ultimecia is actually Rinoa in the future, and the story kinda loops back after you beat her (Ultimecia goes to pass down to Edea, Edea pass down to Rinoa, Rinoa becomes Ultimecia, repeat) is pretty frightening.
The whole story is a loop that the conflict isn't really solved, just repeated.
What's worse is that it seems some characters (Edea and Cid) know this, since there are parallels all over the places (Cid = Squad, Idea = Rinoa).
you realize squall dies at the end of the first disc right? as do all the party members except for rinoa and Irvine squall dies from the wound made from the ice the whole game then becomes his dream world where he realizes he actually loves rinoa. I mean in the timeline were shown seifer reconnects with rinoa and hes her knight. im sure though there are some timelines where squall is the knight and he actually does what he did while he was dying.
Dominic Thompson
I fucking hate you “Rinoa=Ulti” and “Squall is dead” theorists.
David Flores
Now, that's the nonsense theory though.
What happens in disc 1 is just crazy as disc 2.
Now the time loop theory, that makes more sense and there's more hints towards it.
Even SEfags are now adapting Rinoa weapons into Ultimecia and making Ultimedia doing the finger inviting move to Squall, it's practically them hinting the theory.
Adam Myers
Squall is dead is nonsense but Rinoa = Ulti just makes so much sense if you think about it.
Rinoa even talks about being killed by Squall when she goes desperate and Ultimecia says shit about cherishing her childhood memories.
Carson Adams
>Rinoa = Ulti just makes so much sense Then why wasn't it the plot?
Ultimecia having her facial structure being identical to Rinoa and is interjected with Rinoa face in the time compression ending.
Ultimecia "perfect" GF is Squall's lion.
Ultimecia having wings, the same spot as Rinoa.
The ending where Ultimecia returns to the past to "pass down" to Edea creates a stable time loop.
Luis Evans
Ultimecia was born in a time when sorceresses were hated and despised, her monologue about time as she dies doesn’t imply she’s Rinoa at all and all she does is rant about SeeD when Rinoa is right there in front of her.
Ethan Jones
lol Kitase shit all over both these theories
Aaron Morales
It is the plot you dumbass. Not everything needs to be spelled out plainly.
Cameron Allen
because it was the plot.
Alexander Nelson
Griever was not Ultimecia’s GF, she Draws it from Squall.
Hunter Diaz
Sorceresses were hated even in Rinoa time, they just have a devastating sorcesse war man.
And I don't think that's gonna stop after FFVIII.
Gabriel Taylor
>deep
Anthony Flores
It's a GF that is made from Squall.
And the fact she can FUSE with it means compatibility.
All the coincidences are just too inviting.
Kevin Cooper
She explicitly says “Junction myself to Griever” and anyone trained in even para-magic can Junction a GF.
Christopher Williams
There is compatibility with GF, it's even shown in the stats.
Besides, why Griever specifically? Because Ultimecia is subconsciously attracted to Squall.
Bentley Jenkins
>“No, that is not true,” Kitase said. “I don’t think I’ll incorporate that even if we do remake the game. But that being said, both Rinoa and Ultimecia are witches, so in that sense they are similar, but they’re not the same person.”
William Campbell
no even more convulted but plausible too is that the time Ultimecia is referring IS Rinoa's time. A common theme with Time paradoxes or paradoxes in general is that their actual beginning is completely unknown, in this case where Ultimecia actually came from is that unknown which makes the paradox.
Alexander Morris
The only hole behind this theory is that Squall witnessed the transfer from Ulti to Edea, so logically, he should do something about it afterwards?
Jeremiah Miller
Ultimecia is the known last witch from a distant future who just wanted power you dumb fucks.
Carson Myers
If she just wants power, there's no point in time compression.
She goes back to the past for a reason, specifically about the time when Squall and Rinoa exist too.
Ayden Scott
>Ultimecia having her facial structure being identical to Rinoa All the girls have similiar faces in the FMVs, except for Selphie I guess. Griever has a translation mistake, Ultimecia doesn't know about it until the battle where she reads Squall's mind or someshit because she creates Griever from his emotions right then and there. Also, I know you didn't pay any attention to the game but all of the sorceresses have some kind of wings on their back. Edea's are kinda abstract but Adel's metallic frames are more obvious. It's never mentioned how Adel received her powers, and she's not part of the line of inheritance that Ultimecia started, so why should Ultimecia have to be Rinoa to explain her powers? It's a connection that you want to exist to validate the theory, not one that is evident in the game itself.
Ryan Davis
I would be more interested in Rinoa = Ultimecia if there was actually more evidence of a possible future where Rinoa grows up to be like that but there is no implication at all aside from having a face that is ever so slightly similar. Rinoa being forced to have Edea’s powers doesn’t imply she’d become Ultimecia in any sense, and neither does the ending.
Jonathan Cook
This. Schizos are exhausting.
Austin Howard
Rinoa is obsessed with Squall, and she even theorizes about about going crazy and being killed by Squall in the future.
It makes sense for her to go crazy if her knight got killed.
Parker Barnes
Adel junctioned herself with Rinoa but nobody makes any wild theories about that.
Josiah Rodriguez
It is the deepest FF story, but the Ultimecia = Rinoa nonsense has been debunked a million times. And honestly, the story is interesting enough without that retarded twist.
The game is a perfect time loop. Ultimecia fears the prophecy that states that SeeD will destroy her, so she attempts to create Time Compression to avoid that fate. However, Time Compression draws SeeD to her and they destroy her. Due to the Time Compression, she's sent back in time to the Orphanage and dies, but warns Edea that SeeD will kill her, creating her own self-fulfilling prophecy and timeloop.
Sebastian Perez
dude that's a timeline that's not real. squalls dead the party isn't backing her up its his dreamland no he died just like he was seriously hurt in the training area in the beginning of the game the icicle killed him. its a icicle because aerith was from icicle town its to signify hes really dead
Josiah Hall
>She goes back to the past for a reason, specifically about the time when Squall and Rinoa exist too Yes, she goes back and possesses Edea and starts the war in order to get close to Ellone and Adel. Edea has a near death experience and automatically passes on her powers as well as Ultimecia’s possession to Rinoa befor me
Carson Stewart
Ultimecia went back to the past to find Ellone, so she could eliminate things like the past and the future. Time compression creates a singularity of sorts where "past" does not exist. What Ultimecia actually wanted was to be alone, but people refuse to follow the actual story of the game in favor of retarded theories.
Isaiah Bell
>She goes back to the past for a reason, specifically about the time when Squall and Rinoa exist too Yes, she goes back and possesses Edea and starts the war in order to get close to Ellone and Adel. Edea has a near death experience and automatically passes on her powers as well as Ultimecia’s possession to Rinoa before Ultimecia is sent to Adel and her own body.
Joshua Hughes
>deepest The only thing that belonged in that orphanage were the writers for this game.
Cooper Myers
>All the girls have similiar faces in the FMVs Nah, Quitis doesn't have the same wide face as Rinoa/Ultimecia.
There is also no interlacing the face between Ulti and Quitis, like the time compression cutscenes. But Edea is who created SeeD. But Edea is possessed by Ultimecia.
If you think about it, it makes sense that post-defeated Ultimecia would regain her memory in just a bit, which is why she creates SeeD in order to train Squall to defeat her.
Matthew Williams
>she even theorizes about about going crazy and being killed by Squall in the future Because she literally just gained the powers of a sorceress and is told to freeze herself in space or risk killing everyone she knows and loves.
Ayden Bell
Yeah, that's kind of what sorceress does, and surprise, Ultimecia think exactly of that.
Landon Butler
>it makes sense that post-defeated Ultimecia would regain her memory in just a bit, which is why she creates SeeD in order to train Squall to defeat her. This is going places, lol.
