DSi XL

Does anybody here own both a DS Lite and a DSi XL? The DS Lite has a mushy D-Pad, holding one in my hand right now and it's garbage compared to the original "fat" DS, which has a really nice tactile D-Pad.

I've got a question, how does the DSi XL's D-Pad feel? It looks very similar to the DS Lite's D-Pad. Is it good or the same mushy crap that the DS Lite has?

Yes, this is DSi, not to be confused with a 3DS.

The buttons and dpad are clicky like a 3ds

I don't know about the DSi XL, but the original DSi has a nicely click dpad.

I want one of these. My ds lite's screen is just too fucking small to look at now, but my 3ds makes ds games look smudgy and shitty. does this make them look any better with the big screen?

Do the DSi or XL have the nice clicky buttons of the 3DS too?

The 3DS's screen makes games look like shit because of its scaling. The DSi XL screen is still native res so games will look a bit chunky but certainly not blurry or smeared.

cheers

It's a bigger DSi. All the buttons give a tactile response.

That pic brings back memories
I jerked off once looking at that pic in a magazine when I was like 13, imagining the same thing happening to a pair of tits

Bruh

I like the original sized DSi. The shoulder button springs are all worn though. Anyway I can fix them or buy replacement springs? I need to blow into them occassionally to get them to work.

DSlite pad and button were better... sadly, they have a tiny itsy bitsy flaw. Clicky pad isn't really good. Damn, we were so close

Both look bad. At least 3DS has legacy mode.

I find the Life's buttons and dpad to both be super mushy. If it had the same controls as the 3DS that would be ideal

Mushy is the way to go with d-pads. DSlite pad wearing too fast and working horribly is another matter, although NDSi has clicky pads and buttons that aren't as hard as 3DS.

DSi and DSi XL are both clicky.

mushy dpads suck

This is way wrong. Mushy dpads suck. The best D-Pad is the New 3ds'. It's the perfectly tactile, clicky, but has just the right amount of travel, perfect shape and size, and the absolute perfect diagonal feel. DSI had a good dpad but its failing was diagonals were SHIT on it.

holy based

Bullshit, it was hard and in the wrong place. I say this as someone with long fingers but that shit is painful to use, worse than GC's babypad

Not my fault you have fucked giraffe hands user
The dpad is kino. Fucking kino. One of the best theyve made for a handheld.

Not an issue; it's easier to get there with big hands. 3DS was too low for its own sake. Take off your bias; it's was bad.

Okay this thing is pretty great but you gotta admit its at least a little overhyped. Its in the territory of too clicky. Not far in that territory but it's definitely in that direction. A solid 8/10, if not 9 though.
Literally the only person I've seen to say it was a problem in the years I've been in countless d pad discussions.
It being low, I'll give you that, but there's no better solution considering the circle pad was main input for 99% of games

Low + hardness = recipe for disaster. One thing is being low, that's a fact. But being hard at the same time doesn't help at all, 360 is very similar in this regard.

The stick doesn't help either; sure the main focus is on it yet for accuracy you go to the pad and you end up with that.

How on earth is it hard? Its a very soft, hardly clicky feel.

We're getting subjective; for me, it doesn't at all and I've been through lots of d-pads. Oddly enough you're describing DSi d-pad, not 3DS family.

The DSI dpad is one of the hardest dpads ever dude
What on earth are you smoking over there? The things tough as fuck to get diagonals with because its got so little give to it
