I saw it when I was a depressed teen and back then I did relate to Shinji.
After growing older and getting a better hold over my mind and depression, Shinji's constant whining and lack of initiative when it comes to confronting his issues etc just got too annoying for me to watch. I can only watch the fight scenes from NGE and the whole "everyone turns into tang" segment from the series at this point. The drama about a whiny kid just reminds me too much of myself for me to be able to bear watching it.

They certainly would because he's brave enough to pilot a giant "robot" against physics bending aliens. This was made during the 90's, people weren't as vain as they are now.

Phantasy Star II. Seriously, that world is fucked, and it's kind of surreal how much Komm, süsser Tod fits that game. And all contained in a 1988 Genesis/MegaDrive game. Crazy.
