It's useless user, PS2babbies will never stop defending FFX's hallway level design.

oh

Because it's hallways were a million times better than VII's "open world" could ever hope to be. FFX is the best Final Fantasy and no other entry, before or after, has even come close. Lick my nuts.

Final Fantasy fucking sucks. Fuck you.

more like FF 13 and 3 games in that series

FFX was act ually good

Yes, you bring up a good point. Allow me to clarify the difference between FFX, FF13, and FF7R.
In FFX, there is stuff to do in the hallways.
the end

12 is the best final fantasy

kek, /thread

based

I once heard a shitty metaphor that said FFXIII is a straw, and FFX is a silly straw. It's dumb but accurate

FFX was good, and is also the reason for hallway simulators. The only problem is that after they removed the world map, they continued to remove other things instead of adding the world map back and removing something else. And then they got head on pants retarded and forgot how to make a FF.

are you fuckin serious? fuck off zoomer. the game isn't even sad since tidus the fag comes back until pic related happens
ffx is a fuckin joke dude

And then they got eating glue retarded and forgot how to design levels

And still a better game

Remember that white boy

FFX is part of the symptom of SE's inability to adapt to newer tech, not the reason. FFXV was shit regardless of how "open" it was because the people in charge don't know shit about modern game design.

Love that game.

Unironically the peak of the entire franchise. Whether it was because of this game or in spite of it, it was all downhill from there.

You need a few more fucks. For maximum edge.

You are a nigger.
You are the blackest retard gorilla nigger I have ever seen.

No NPC-given fetch quests though. I miss those times.

Agreed. the earlier games only gave the illusion of choice. Also, X being linear was due to the story. You can't have a sense of urgency and this religious pilgrimage, and have the player able to wander to wherever the fuck they want at any time and screw around endlessly. It would kill the pacing. But retards who can't accept change or anything different fail to realize this. You'd think after 9 iterations of the exact same thing you'd want something a little different but I guess not.

But FFX was great.

I think Square just has an unhealthy obsession with top-tier graphics, and unfortunately, have been left in the dust while they wasted literally a decade on Crystal Tools/Luminous engine.

Now they just use UE4 and push it to the limits, and the cracks start to show.

Just make fun games you cunts. There's a reason FFX/DQ8 are remembered as the best examples of PS2 games ever made. Good artsytyle, great gameplay and mid-tier graphics.

What even WAS the side content that I liked in FFX? I can't even remember now. Was it just going back to older areas and finding ultimate weapons and Jecht holograms? That's gotta be it. FF13 and FF7R actually got rid of the ability to go back. Never really thought about how vital that is to making the game not feel like an on-rails movie.

yeah, I got rats to kill.

>You can't have a sense of urgency and this religious pilgrimage, and have the player able to wander to wherever the fuck they want at any time and screw around endlessly.
Except FF7 had that, retard.

X looked great for its time.

Final Fantasy 7,8,9 & 10 released in a 4 year window, and they're considered top tier for the most part

It took 3 years for FXIII, and then another fucking decade for XV to actually be finished. Just stop aiming for the best in terms of graphics and game engines. Just make shit like bravely default but on a bigger scale.

Think about that.

I felt zero urgency. Especially doing a boring snowboarding mini game right after Aeris dies. What fucked pacing and odd tonal shifts it had.

It did, but obviously wasn't the limit for the system in terms of animation/polycount/AI. FFXII really blew FFX's technical specs out of the water.

You're an idiot. Square has been a "graphics first, everything else second" developer for decades now. Their PS2 and PS1 games were certainly not "mid-tier graphics"

They keep pushing the graphics simply to grab the wider audience. They can't keep this up eventually it will reach a peak.

People simply need to move on to other JRPG series. FF isn't fun anymore. Hasn't been since XII

There is very, very little to actually do if you deviate off the main story path in FF7 until pretty significantly far into the game. Same with 9, there's an open world to explore but you can't do shit because the game gatekeeps you to certain areas.

it took them 5 i believe.

>I felt zero urgency.
Sounds like a you problem.

Square Enix here: no.

X and XI were absolutely mid-tier for the system. Like said before, XII was fucking massively better in every technical aspect. X was just impressive for a near-launch game. That's all.

Was it on a timer like Majora's Mask? No? Then you could take as long as you want and it doesn't matter. You could even forget the main thing you were supposed to be doing, which was a common problem with long rpgs back then.

Every final fantasy is a hallway.

Some hide it by having a world map with nothing in it but your next location, which upon loading is more hallways

Linear = bad memery has come back in full force hasnt it. Corona cancelling school has caused an early onset of summer Yas Forums

Good of you to clean the shit off your hand before taking a picture

It was impressive like ico and mgs2 for a near launch game. You're delusional if you think it wasn't a big budget, gorgeous looking game that sold many copies off of that fact alone. Read any review from the time and they'll praise the graphics.
also, enjoy your painted on abs and flesh colored eyes.

You don't know what the fuck you are talking about. You clearly weren't alive then.
>graphics gets better throughout the generation as developers become more familiar with the hardware and develop better techniques
No shit.

There wasn't any timer in FFX. You're just being disingenuous at this point.
> You could even forget the main thing you were supposed to be doing
It's not fucking complicated. In the first half of the game you're chasing sephiroth/jenova, in the second half of the game you have meteor hanging over your head. FF7's story may have been complicated but the objective at least was always clear.

I don't know, FFX still feels enjoyable to play
FFXIII does not. And FF7R feels like FFXIII.

I don't even get what's bad about X being linear. The side content in other FFs is trash. Just because you like chocobo breeding doesn't mean most people do. Same thing with the weapons in X. Loved how you didn't have to buy a new faggoty sword that looked like a madcatz monster controller in each town with 5+ attack to replace your old one 50 times throughout the game. it streamlined certain things for the better.

Nah, nigga
It's because of hardware limitations

FFX is unironically better than OG FF7

Having side content makes a world feel like a world and not just a corridor.

>FFX
>mid-tier graphics
It was literally one of the best-looking games on the entire system.

tpbp
FFX is a masterpiece, anyone who says otherwise is a contrarian shitlord.
