No. The whole point of the new remakes was that since technology has improved you can make the old games what they should have been. RE4 hasn't aged enough and I guarantee if they remake it they'll only make it worse unless they keep in the Merchant and leveling up guns, etc.

I would dig an update, so long as it only improves on what is already there. Flesh out the limb shooting a little bit more without overdoing melee attacks like 5, basically have the ganados react in more ways to the various weapons.
The games pretty much perfect and would do great simply with a new engine and graphics overhaul. Give me a few new costumes, characters and scenarios to play and I'm satisfied. If they fuck it up, the original isn't going anywhere.

Not much point, the older REmakes make sense because the improved visuals turn up the atmosphere, and the third person gameplay is a fresh take. RE4 still looks fine (yes it's not state of the art but it isn't a 5th gen blockfest) and a remake would probably play exactly the same, considering its basic gameplay is still the basis for most of the series including the remakes that just released.
