the persona devs have long decided since persona 4 that everyone's lives revolve around the hero of the story and that carried on to persona 5. they aren't allowed to think or act for themselves. the hilarious thing is in persona 2 and 3, when characters start depending on someone else too much, they end up causing world ending scenarios.

Everything can be dumbed down to a cliche or a trope. Some tropes are easier to write with, and its clear that most japs don't know how to write a quite or insecure women.

I really liked Hifumi, Yusuke, and Ryuji. Kawakami, Takemi, and Chihaya were also pretty based.
