It's time for Square to bring him back as only he knew how to lead a proper Final Fantasy team

They would never do that. This man likes the Fantasy genre.

Do you think developers are robots that exist to serve you? He doesn't want to go back.

spirits within almost killed square, plus it was dogshit
I don't think you get a second chance after that

He made Lost Odyssey for X360 it was superior to FF13

He's busy surfing.

>it was superior to FF13, 15 and 7R

Pretty sure he was forced out. I bet he still would wanna make the series otherwise.

Movies =/= games

Also Square deserves some blame for this on trying to push that whole cgi actor thing that flopped horribly.

>as only he knew how to lead a proper Final Fantasy team
Yeah, into the fucking ground that is

>Have you ever wanted to return to Final Fantasy?

>Sakaguchi: So like for example when Uematsu-san does a concert or something, people will say, 'Play some Final Fantasy songs!' The franchise has actually gotten bigger than the actual creator, in some sense. I feel like I've been able to distinguish myself from Final Fantasy. At this point I feel like I'm doing new and great things, and I don't look back. So to be honest, probably not.

I liked it. The world just wasn't ready.

Leave my dad alone. He did good for decades. His favorite FF is IX. He tardwrangled Toriyama and Hori into actually making Chrono Trigger so great.

He's a fucking legend. Let him stay that way.

m8, the merger only happened after Square had recovered with Kingdom Hearts and FFX, fucking retard.

He looks like he'd be a boss-ass samurai damiyo, shogun, or a yakuza boss in a movie.

no, he wasn't fired. He was given a new position at Square that made him do literally nothing all day to the point where Sakaguchi got fed up and left.

I love him.

>when Sakaguchi has to take bribes cause his games don't sell

Y'all better not tell me he doesn't want to work on the cashcow that is FF

Still waiting for this shit to work on the 360 emulator since I never owned an Xbox. It's almost there.

Neither was the fucking movie

The last story is one of my absolute favourite games ever.
Real shame Cry On got cancelled. I am sure it would have been really interesting at worst.

Same. That or just a functional port.

Should just give Matsui the reigns.

When Sakaguchi wanted to make a movie, he went and made a movie.
When Toriyama wanted to make a movie, he made XIII.

Why would they just like Star Wars no matter how shit Final Fantasy gets legions of brain washed shills will defend it to the death

He's a treasure. May the gacha mines be kind to him

I know arr rook same and all that jazz but isn't that literally James Chen with a moustache?

cry bitch

You're god damn fucking right they should.
I'm excited to see what Yoshi-P does with a single player FF game though.

I'll admit that I genuinely dislike and is critical of the idea of aeutorship.
That said I loved just short of every single Square game when he was still involved and part of the company, and after he left I still loved every single non-mobage Mistwalker made.
Meanwhile Square's output after his departure kind of flipped itself around. Since then I've disliked most of the games, only loving a few select titles.

All of this suggests pretty strongly that he (and the people that followed with him to Mistwalker) has a lot to do with the quality of the games.
It's really a fucking tragedy how he had to leave, and how Mistwalker never managed to make it bigger.

Yoshida definitely loves the actual "fantasy" side of the series, but my only fear is that he plays things too safe in XIV and if it wasn't apparent then, it is now with maximizing profits while minimizing workload. If he's directing XVI, then i worry it's going to be held back in spots, leading to an overall consensus of "this is a good game but the primary reason people think it's good is because it's a breath of fresh air from all the modern or high-tech FF settings, and it could've been much better."

If only they had wen the path of Monolith Soft and got a publisher like Nintendo to really push them forward instead of Microsoft

Both Matsui and Yoshida know how to work with a tiny-ass budget (hell, XI only has had 6 devs the past five years), and that's beneficial for their workflows since it mandates they be focused with their vision.

I think everyone has lost their way at Squeenix, they need to get rid of the old guard and bring in new blood.
