Baldur's gate

What's a fun non-mage class to play? Torn between fighter/cleric, paladin, and fighter/thief.

Definitely paladin.

This sucks unless you roll strictly lawful good....or not. Fighter/cleric for sure.

the thing that sucks about f/c is it feels like you're pigeonholed into using flail of the ages or crom feyer.

>unless you roll strictly lawful good
As if alignment mattered in this game beyond the good-bad reputation scale.

I enjoyed my dual wizard slayer/thief a lot. Ended up with Carsomyr and like 99% magic resistance

My two favorite Good classes are Cavalier and Ranger/Cleric. If you give the Cavalier specialization in axes they can use throwing axes and bypass the "no ranged weapons" handicap, and a Ranger/Cleric gets access to both cleric and druid spells, fighter-tier HP and THAC0, and stealth access. If you want to dual-class, you can go Stalker->Cleric or Beast Master->Cleric, but the only way to make the most out of those two kits is to dual-class after getting to level 13 to get their full bonuses and an extra 1/2APR, which means you can't re-activate the class until the very end of Shadows of Amn within the XP cap.

For Evil I usually end up playing Fighter/Thief if I just can't bring myself to play with Jan again, but if I do muster up the courage to bring Jan then I'll end up as a Fighter/Cleric to play as a makeshift "evil" paladin. If dual-classing Berserker->Thief is strong for being a stabby boy with basically no drawbacks, and Kensai->Thief causes maximum backstab damage with Use Any Item removing any of its negatives. A Berserker->Cleric is also stupid strong since
>slings lmao
don't really bring any downsides to Berserker's kit.

Based. I just finished a pure wizard-slayer playthrough. Thought about dualing for UAI, but you get so much mr from the class itself in ToB, plus the 10% you get from hell that I was at like 85% in the end.

>backstabbing with Staff of the Ram

>For Evil I usually end up playing Fighter/Thief if I just can't bring myself to play with Jan again
lol this is the main reason I'm thinking about going fighter/thief. I hate how it feels like I'm forced to take jan in BG2 every playthrough since the only other option is yoshimo and we all know how that ends. It sucks because I actually would really like to take yoshi, but it just feels like a huge waste of xp.

Alignment, like most characters stats in BG, is a null factor.

True facts. In fact the only character stat that I can think of that actually matters is reputation, since you've got to keep that at 6 or higher to not have to deal with randomly spawning enemies and still have access to merchants and stuff.

I wish there was any way at all to save Yoshimo. He was the second best companion after Keldorn.

There's also a trick in to keep him alive, at least until Throne of Bhaal: dismiss him inside the building, trigger the spellhold event, return to the area where he's been left, upon entering the area, pause the game, if you're quick enough, you may engage him in dialogue to recruit him again, keeping him till the end of SoA. In order to transmit him to ToB, you can cast Imprisonment on him anywhere in the Watcher's Keep while in SoA. When in ToB, you can free him by the corresponding spell and join.

Cleric and Fighter/Cleric is for chads.

What in the fuck. You know what, I'll take it! Better than losing my best thief.

My best's on kensai and dwarfen defender, one's tough as nail, other can lop off heads easily

they removed that for ee tho

No problem, I only own vanilla.

Fighter/Mage/Thief is just too much fun for me to play anything else. The ultimate versatile class

Why doesn't anyone play bard?

I enjoy having HD in the party, and having 2 bards just seems overkill.

Bard is probably the only DnD class I hate with all of my heart because of how utterly idiotic their very concept is.

>Ram-Ranch build

crpgs suck hard i only kinda enjoyed fallout 1 and that was just because of its setting

explain this meme pls

>actually hate every second of BG1 and it's rng bullshit encounters
>cannot bring myself to play BG2 without importing
why am i like this.

staff of the ram has really high base dps (1d6 +12!) and is considered a thief weapon eligible for backstabs since it's a quarterstaff. It's regarded as the best backstabbing weapon in the game excluding the black blade of disaster mage spell.

Its a worst thief.

What was the exploit to keep all of your gear from BG1 when you begin 2?

you kill people by shoving a stick up their butt??

If they could just find traps they would be so much better.
