Is there a game that gives a similar experience to The Martian movie?
Like being alone on a planet and trying to survive?
any genre is ok.

No Mans Sky? I heard that game is solid now

Pikmin is exactly like The Martian

Factorio

I forgot I bought that when it first came out. Maybe I should start it over.

Probably something like The Forest or that newer the forest ripoff which name I forgot

holy shit son, do I got a game for you. just disable the space niggers

Subnautica is literally The Martian but with a water planet.

Also theres a game called Surviving Mars but I have no idea how good that is.

How the fuck do you see this exactly like The Martian?

the long dark

Oxygen Not Included on one of the harder embarks.

Prey is sort of like it, but less about engineering solutions and more about hiding and fighting strategically. But it's pretty isolated and of course in space.

Just played through Subnautica and it definitely gave me that feeling. Really great sense of progression too. Like with the Martian you have to deal with whats in front of you and about to kill you, then worry about longer term survival goals. The game starts with literally "put out the fucking fire" and then builds meaningfully to the conclusion. It's great.

>Subnautica
Great game even with my phobia of deep waters

All I want is the actual full release of Below Zero since early access a shit. Feels bad

>disabling half the game
play however you want to play, but the fact that there exists such a well made factory building tower defense hybrid game gets my dick rock fucking hard. I just wish there were more defensive options in vanilla, but then there are fucking mods

You survive being on an alien planet with insufficient resources by gardening your ass off?

Rimworld

Minecraft.

uhhh user, I...

Subnautica is a superb game. First time a leviathan charged me I shat myself

There's nobody with you?

You can do that in No Man's Sky

that movie was a bunch of reddit and disney trash

too bad it's SJW

I don't understand how it slipped your notice, but there's an entire genre of "open world survival crafting" that popped up in the wake of Minecraft and Rust.

Don't be cringe, thank you

Too bad you're a nigger faggot

don't be so soft

Nvm, my bad. I saw it before and there are a lot of aliens with the player and I thought those are his friends or something.

there are two different game modes, really.
the last time I've relapsed, I've spent 150 hours or so creating a perfectly optimized oil outpost. precise ratio of refineries to pumps, cell-by-cell optimized positioning, best positions for pipes, that kind of shit, all with only surface understanding of factorio math and fluid mechanics. full-on autism.
you sure as hell ain't gonna do that kind of shit if you play on deathworld.

The leviathans didn't do much for me (initially, ghost guy coming of the depths and ramming my ass was a good startle), but the first time one of the fucking crab squids popped up at the window of the deep abandoned base I felt primal fucking fear.

has anyone mentioned ksp yet

The little aliens are his workforce, like lemmings

>Minecraft
Block building and not on alien planet and there are villagers with you. that doesn't give you the same feeling of being abandoned on an empty planet.
>Rust
are you fucking stupid?
Also, these survival multiplayer games are cancer with toxic people. Let alone being buggy af and full of hackers

I am not listing Minecraft and Rust as examples of a Mars game you fucking retard.
