will Trials of Mana be the only decent Remake of the season?
RE3R is ok, definitely a step down from 2, but still fun. 7R is an absolute train wreck, that's for sure. Anyway, Xenoblade DE is coming out May 29th.
ToM is also shit. Xenoblade will be the one.
user, starting Mana threads by shitting on other games just brings people like on board, please don't do it.
*Ahem*
how do you know it's shit?
Xenoblade is not even a remake, it's just the same game with updated character models.
They remade the game in a new engine. It's a remake.
>new engine
[citation needed]
ff7r is so weird now that im playing it
its just...so stretched out that i can't see myself starting a NEW GAME again in even 10 years time. its not a 100% full ff7 remake, we knew this in 2015 though, but it just feels so LONG to get through JUST MIDGAR and them saying "welp, still got 90% of a full game ahead of us." its just gonna be a slog more than anything, even over all the story shit.
its slow, 7/10.
Problem with FF7R is you have two groups: people gushing over literally ANYTHING FF7 because they liked the game back in the day and people who never played it, but know of FF7's fame. I get the feeling not a whole lot of people really enjoy this remake for what it is.

>In Torna – The Golden Country, we’re using a new engine to render the game. While we’re still in the transitional period of refining it for use in future games, the differences are still slightly noticeable.
it's running on the engine they made for Torna.
OH MAN, OH GOD
OH MAN, OH GOD
OH MAN, OH GOD
That's not a source for Xenoblade DE using it.
Yeah, I decided to watch a let's play beforehand and Jesus Christ, the guy spent like 4 hours just roaming around the bland wasteland that is Sector 7 just doing lame fetchquests. It's padded like hell.
I'm really worried Trials is going to be too easy to be fun.
>I get the feeling not a whole lot of people really enjoy this remake for what it is.
Duh.
People who were legitimate fans of the original are royally pissed off because they didn't get the remake they wanted while everyone else loves it because of the brand.
dude, its not EVEN THE FETCH QUESTS, you do OTHER SHIT between getting BACK to sector 7 and then STARTING reactor 5.
im about 10 hours in and i JUST got to Aeriths house. took my time, didn't die, did some side shit, about chapter 9, half way through the game.
i know where to "go" but the game wants to pull me in other directions, why can't the damn time jannies DO THEIR JOBS!?
It's called circumstantial evidence. They made a new engine for their last game expansion in order to use it in future games, and now, 2 years later, they're releasing a new game.
No, changes a ton of shit in the story like 7R
>remake
>instead of putting energy and creativity into a brand new world and adventure
Remakes are inherently shit projects and whoever gets excited for them deserves their disappointment.
All the budget went in to 7R.
Aside from the fact that it says right there do you really think they're using the same engine they used on the wii?
>calls 7R an absolute train wreck
>is hyping up Xenoblade DE which is also changing the ending and adding new story shit
lol
yes, but in 2015 we were TOLD this was going to be a multi part project at face value. being given just midgar is annoying, but it is the real first setpiece of the game that everyone REMEMBERS
from then on? lots of little shit, but a TON of shit happens between midgar and end of disc 1.
I don't mind remakes if they're used as a jumping point to see if people are still interested in the property and then create something new, but the problem is everyone moves on to the next thing to remake instead. Did we get new Spyro or Crash games? Fuck no.
Yeah, I wasn't counting the long ass new random quest to go to Jessie's house cause that at least is not roaming around in the middle of nowhere.
>the damn time jannies
Jesus fucking Christ. Whoever thought those were a good idea needs to get fired.
Besides having a post-game now, what else?
Not like this game had more than like three story beats anyhow.
It's not actual evidence and it's not a new game either. Remaking it from scratch would be a ton of needless work when they already have everything.
That's where you're wrong. The new section is completely disconnected from the main game. It's an epilogue. The original story is completely safe.
It's the one I'm most looking forward to at least.
Pretty sure Monolith Soft made a new engine for the original Xenoblade and they keep updating in with each new game in the series, so it's to be expected that XCDE should run in the iteration of the Xenoblade engine that is updated from Torna's. Not sure if I would count this as a new engine since it seems they only do iterative upgrades.
I kind of am too.
I have done self-imposed challenges on other games that were too easy but I really hope difficulty goes up in this one.
Yes
If it's still the same engine with updates, then they aren't remaking anything from scratch which is my point.
You can't just take an old SD game running on ancient hardware and make it HD by pressing a button. They obviously reused the movement patterns designs and the voices, but all the graphics are remade.
what pisses me off is remakes very rarely do anything new in terms of content, especially for games that were KNOWN for being unfinished. why didn't the zodiac age add the missing shit into ff12? it's why I would, for example, like to see xenogears remade - just to see the fucking disk 2 done right.
Sure, that's called a remaster, not a remake.
>Remakes are inherently shit projects
Not really, there have been plenty of good ones.
REmake, Resident Evil 2 remake, Dragon Quest VII on 3DS, Link's Awakening, the N64 Zeldas, just off the top of my head
Based on the demo this one is looking really good too.
What part of:
>In Torna – The Golden Country, we’re using a new engine to render the game.
you retards don't understand?
A remaster is precisely taking the old game as is and going for higher graphical settings, it's not the same thing.
Trials of Mana remake is tewwibowe
There's a demo
They at least changed what it seems to be all the 3d models, textures, music UI and possibly animations, but the base game seems to be basically the same. You guys are basically debating what shade of gray is not close enough to the side of the gradient that you're not comfortable with.
>list 0 positives
>yeah its an above average game!
Jesus fucking christ were you actually diagnosed with down syndrome?
>zodiac age
That's a remaster, not a remake.
>he didn't list them, therefore he doesn't think the game has any
Were YOU diagnosed with down syndrome?
whatever nerd
>but in 2015 we were TOLD this was going to be a multi part project at face value
That's not the issue here, the issue are the rewrites.
Cant believe this is way fucking faithful than FFVII
>what pisses me off is remakes very rarely do anything new in terms of content
Have you only been playing Sony remakes or something?
Why is that so unbelievable?
i've played so much worse man
like, much worse.
the negatives are solely shit we can't change at this point, being, it should have BEEN a full FF7 remake in one game.
fuck you
im trying to deal with this game as best i can and I GOT IT FOR FREE.
