Setting wise pretty much but the gameplay is incredibly different, the battle system is a sort of auto-battler. Also, a good number of youkai in the games are made up bullshit like this cunt.

Extremely comfy. In terms of overall quality I'd say 3 is the strongest entry in the series. With so much stuff to do, 700+ Yo-kai to collect and all those random events it set high expectations which YW4 couldn't meet.

Climbing Badabing tower right now. Yokai Watch is kind of a guilty pleasure series for me. Sure the atmosphere is uber comfy, great battle animations, killer OST, the monster collecting is nice, and team building/fighting can be a lot of fun, specially if luck plays in your favor. But man, 60% of the game is just very lame sidequests and recycled content. I like these games, to the point I can chill to shit like riding the train or Hazy Lane but I'd hardly recommend them to anyone. 3 is nice, yes, but there's a couple painfully boring stretches.
Iunno this needed to be a little more focused on finding cool places to explore, have more dungeons and shady allleys, stop making me go fetch shit.
