Why do companies like Nintendo try and crack down on emulation when the only way to legitimately get the games is second-hand? They won't make or lose any money regardless, they're literally just ruining people's fun.

My wife only let me have the PC in our dorm so no extra hardware to store around. My only chance is emulation which is not that bad. PCSX2 looks good upscaled.

This is the Issue. Mike Matai provides your entertanment. He owns all the nintendo carts and that's all that matters. Emulation means that nintendo can't make the much needed profit therfore no games. It's not rocket scince. Buy your Nes games from Nintendo Direct or whatevers. But don't go rom hunting.

I can no longer get these games any more. If I wanted to buy them, I'd have to get them second-hand at a marked up price. Nintendo doesn't lose or gain any money by my actions.

And emulators give me an objectively better experience than I could get even on the eshop.

I frequently emulate games I own which is entirely legal its just more convenient for me. Also who gives a shit 99% of these older games are not even available legally for sale anyone and are decades out of print. Even for those I don't own I don't think any publisher is going to lose sleep because I didn't buy a game secondhand that is no longer available legally from ebay.
