So why is Duke supposed to be good? It’s the only classic FPS I haven’t beat because the weapons felt weak and i hated the art style

For the engine and gameplay.

Weapons are indeed lackluster, so if you enjoyed the style, but hated the weapons, try Blood and Shadow Warrior.

Great level design + Duke himself is hard not to like. Some of the weapons feel kinda meh but I always liked the shotgun, pipe bomb and devastator

Yeah I know it's a very normie choice. But Doom, Quake, System Shock, Rainbow Six, Thief, and Half-Life influenced AAA games to the point where any new game can trace their DNA back to one of these titles.

Blood is the best 90s fps but of the image its quake. Doom falls apart like doom 2 for the middle section although less so than doom 2. Duke Nukem is the weakest build engine.

It's the pinnacle of build engine. Absolutely amazing technology. Shells stay on the ground, that kind of stuff.

It's Duke3D but almost all the enemies are either a pain in the ass to hit or are hitscan
