What are your favourite base builders?
I am currently looking into Kenshi, but old Minecraft still leaves a hole waiting to be filled
Comfy base building thread
I'm trying to love Kenshi. I like it plenty, but it keeps annoying me with little problems that piss me off, like how there's no way to make my dudes fill their backpacks full of ore while mining a copper node before they leave to store it. Instead, they can only clear the node out once it's full of ore and haul that stack back. Not a big deal, but kind of annoying. Training is also a pain in the ass, but I think that's the point.
If Kenshi had the genius automation of Factorio wherin I can build up a settlement to be completely autonomous while I take my main squad out to fuck shit up it would be my favorite game ever. You CAN do that in Kenshi, but you have to make certain compromises like your ore example.
kenshi 2 will be with a new engine so hopefully tweaking the ai will be easier
I find that its significantly easier to train strength than dexterity
Kenshi isn't a fun base building game...
The moment you actually start building th base is when the game turns to shit
>when Kral's Chosen shows up at your doorstep
Base events make the game feel so artificial, they are the opposite of fun
And at first they are frustratingly hard to deal with, specially if you are not expecting them
But once you build walls and mounted weapons, then it becomes a piece of cake, and just an annoyance
Kenshi is one of those games mods practically have to fix.
At least the dev is kind enough to admit these things and procided mod tools.
Hopefully things will be better in 2
try building in the swamp if you want a challenge
Base building is kind of annoying, but I like having a settlement producing money and food for me while I go out and fuck shit up. I settled next to a Hive village to the east of The Hub and there's a shitload of copper there. I have 10 dudes there just mining copper and farming hemp, greenfruit and wheatstraw, And whenever a raid comes I just run them to our Hiver neighbors, who promptly beat the shit out of them. I don't even have walls lol.
I did this. Its hard but possible. I have a town with about 30 people automatically producing food, medicine and weapons to sell. There are permanent guards on the gate turrets and wardens on standby to repel attackers and heal the wounded without any input from me. Took me 150 hours but it was worth it
I hope KEnshi 2 is real and even better. The game's flawed as fuck but it makes me feel things no other game has.
Also I need a proper magic and lichdom mod
>then it becomes a piece of cake, and just an annoyance
Why? Shit, I'm at the point where when the game tells me my base is being raided I just completely ignore it precisely because I know my fort will be fine. Doesn't annoy me at all.
Kenshi 2 is definitely real, and it should be way better now that they're using Unreal and learned from developing the first game.
Wait what’s the problem with kenshi automation? I don’t remember having an issue other than having to sell all my goods myself since personal shops don’t work well
I know it's real in the sense that is being made.
I meant it that after how long Kenshi took to make that the guy might get bored or lose focus halfway through development.
Or pulls a Rimworld and fucks the game with his "superior vision"
not really automation when your fucking guys get stuck on terrain for no reason
My training regimen includes wearing heavy packs for overencumberance while being in stealth mode. Send the guy to mine far away and he'll sneak back and forth, raising all related stats. I set up my based to do this, set the game on max speed for like an hour and came back. Everyone was at like 40 strength and Naruto running.
I really wish Kenshi was first person instead of squad.
Game setting would have been better first person.
Like I said, small little problems, like the backpack ore issue, or how if there's no space in a person's inventory and they're hungry, they'll automatically go to the food storage but won't take anything out because there's no space. Even though they can just automatically arrange their inventory and make plenty of space. Or how pathing gets fucked up sometimes.
Nothing terrible or gamebreaking, but annoying.
CDDA
I swear people could eat without putting it in their inventory
What I noticed is that the only things NPC's buy from your shop is food and bandages
I'm new to the game, been playing for the past week.
Yesterday, I was out traveling with my MC and his ninja squad when I see a red hue on my Townies tab. It's Ruka, and she's hurting. Or just fucking starving. And she's standing right in front of a food storage (meant for the animals btw, which my colonists are totally okay with) starving to death, not fucking eating any of the delicious fish we bought from our Hive neighbors, and it was because the dumb bitch had a medikit blocking the only space she has in there. So I take it upon myself to press the Arrange button under her inventory, clearing up enough space to eat some fucking fish so that she can get her stupid, hornless ass back to work mining my fucking copper.
They buy any trade good, but not weapons or armor. I had a brick of hash in the shop counter and three nomads in a row said that they couldn't afford it, so that either means I can't sell it or they really can't afford it.
Nah, they buy almost anything except weapons and armor, and it depends on what kind of NPC they are and how much money they have.
>kenshi 2
Yeah in a decade maybe.
I feel you user.
Post Ruka porn.
You think so? I don't think the vast tracts of empty desert would work very well without the rts style movement and fast forwarding mechanics. It would have to be a much smaller map.
Setting my squad of traders to caravan formation and watching them walking through the desert at x1 speed is kino as fuck, though. Especially when the music kicks in.
Why can't I get my sqaudmates to spar with each other? I was hoping to build a fucking shaolin temple on a plateau somewhere...
