Just bought this, any tips for a new player?
The only other ARPG I've played was Diablo 2 decades ago.

>Invest all skill points into one attack
>Use others for damage increase and self buff skills
>Press one button on loop to kill every enemy on screen
>Do this for 200 hours until you have equipment to kill all enemies on screen slightly faster than last time

Focus on 1-2 damage types
Defences (particularly resistances) are very important and especially on the higher difficulties/end game, should be your priority over offense
If you're not planning on going to max level/endgame you can more or less do any class combo without issue
If you're not sure what second class to get, soldier works with everything due to some very strong passives
If you plan to try and talk about this on Yas Forums, expect a lot of butthurt POE fans, they would literally rather shitpost about GD than play poe

Thanks.

Any idea what you want to play?

I haven't start playing yet. It has guns, right?

Stack physique regardless of your build, except to equip items.
Max at least one of your masteries for their raw stats.

What gameplay style do you have in mind? Melee or range? Two hander or one hander? Dual wield or with a shield? Spammable spells that can be used as a "main" attack or powerful slower stuff?
If you're playing hardcore keep in mind that this game absolutely adores "floor is lava" shit, it's fucking everywhere and if you're a melee character it's even harder to deal with.
But yeah, focus on a few damage types, 2-3 preferably, since you will run into an enemy that has resistances to one or a couple of them eventually, although people do mono-types also.
Survivability is king, resistances in particular, the first time I went up in difficulty I hit a shrimp near the starting town and died from it's post death poison because my resistance to it was -25% and I didn't really put much in health, harboring a silly belief that I could survive by killing enemies before they kill me. I was wrong.
Also there are some enemies that will just instantly burst you down. It's really not very friendly to hardcore players, or it is, depending on how much you enjoy CBT.
Also I'm pretty sure there's no reason to put level up points on your character screen into anything except the first stat, the one that gives you HP, you get the rest from items and levelling up your class masteries, which you should probably actively do early.
Also don't start with Soldier as your first class, levelling with cadence is the most boring shit imaginable.
Yep, demoman is guns/spellcaster, inquisitor is dual pistols/spellcaster.

Yes, both one and two-handers.

Guns and crossbows but no bows which I find weird.

Yep. Duel guns are preferred because their faster attack speed means you proc passives faster. If you want guns you definitely want inquisitor as one of your classes for the ability to duel pistols right off the bat for only one point investment.

Yeah, both 1h and 2h. 1h can be dual wielded with certain perks/gear. Demo and inquisitor are both more geared towards guns but you can still make it work with any classes.

This dude is right, the bonus stats from level up should ALL be put into physique.

I don't believe in shills, but the constant Grim Dawn threads when Path of Exile exists is weird.

Hey, it's clear you're pretty dumb but this is a fairly simple concept so even you should be able to grasp it:
You are allowed to play and like more than one game, even if they are in the same genre.

Alright, it's just surprising that anyone would play this when it's ass.

>see a legendary that has special shit for flashbang
>wonder if I could make something out of it
>every other 2H ranged set has a legendary in the same slot as the flashbang effects
Fuck off I just wanted to test it out.

PoE's passive tree is a bonus to some people, it's the dealbreaker for me.
They had the right idea, kinda, with lab ascendancy, but it's still not enough. I want defined classes, not vague blobs of passives.

Disregard this post I suck cocks.

I hate games that you are supposed to play hundreds of hours. People that grind Diablo for fun disgust me, they are skinner box addicted retards.

Not OP but I got a noob question here. I’m not sure how to balance skill points between the base class level and the skills themselves. I’ve been putting most points into abilities and then leveling up the class level when I want to unlock the next skills.

Playing Shaman btw

Grim Dawn's less like that than a lot of other games in the genre. The devs wanted you to be able to realistically complete a character, which pisses off poebabs because it means they can't grind for days for 0.1% more exp to the next level

I usually put 1 point into an ability and the rest into mastery (for as long as I'm planning to level that mastery at least). Not the fastest approach, but it really helps with survivability on hc. Also you get faster access to high level skills.

so is there point on playing grim dawn if i can install poe?

I think it depends on the ability. You can get away with only one point in something like AAR for a long time. But for most other skills you need more.

Nothing stops you from trying both and picking for yourself.

I have a few questions about this game:

Does it have PVP?
Do I have to buy the 7 DLCs to experience the full game?

>No
>The only DLCs you need are the two xpacs

No, ARPGs typically do not.
If you want the full game in terms of all classes and Acts then you need the two content expansions. There are only three expansions total, anything else is optional extra support donation shit only because fans asked for it.

I'd argue you don't even really need Forgotten Gods since its plot goes on such a tangent that there are almost no connections. The only reason to get it would be the class.

It was fun though. Killing a God is always cool, and finding out that the witch gods stole their powers from Korvaak was a great story twist

>killing a God
>allowing the Witch Gods to grow in power
>learning about Yugol
>et al.
stop posting any time.
