Minecraft Content is Awful

I genuinely believe Mojang are shit devs. The only thing that made minecraft successful was its concept and notch's visionary game design. Sonce then all mojang has done is release an update every year or two which adds 10 - 15 minutes of weak content, this game should have died by now due to its awful management. Ops?

Mods and multiplayer are literally the only thing that are (and have) kept this game alive
Cue aquatic update for bringing back interest in the game for casuals and ex players

The only smart person in Mojang was Notch : he sold the game bloated with shitty code and ideas and became insanely rich

git gud at redstone and you'll never need to complain about anything ever again[';[[[[;[;'0[-[=]]]]]]]]]]][';[;[-

kek

what was the fucking point

Redstone was done by Notch so it doesn't disprove Mojang being bad.
Anyway Minecraft has had Redstone for like 10 years and you should be able to expect some new mechanics to play with since then.

>visionary

didn't he admit he ripped-off infiniminer?

REMINDER THAT VERTICAL SLABS LIMIT CREATIVITY AND NOW BE A GOOD GOY AND NOW BUY YOUR 500 MICRO$OFT GOLD COIN(tm) TEXTURE PACKS

piggers?

t. not jeb

This. Unironically.
Notch is an incapable dev, but he has made all the right choices when it comes to making money off Minecraft.
That includes not being particularly focused on DRM/copyprotection by the way.

>VERTICAL SLABS LIMIT CREATIVITY

wot

Why would I use Minecraft as an extraordinarily tedious FPGA and jury rig some shitty virtual dirt cart when I have a real FPGA with a sensible Verilog design platform and can jury rig literally anything I want?

>Promise features
>Never deliver
>Tie up the game with a shitty boss fight and a 2DEEP4U text ending

Thanks Notch

I think OP was ironic there.
To emphasize what kind of people are left at that company.

The torches that run out would've been extremely annoying after one hour of playtime. He made the right decision to scrap that

>rewind to 2012

Later I've found out that's not really how pillagers work but still its probably the only game that's rated T and still can kill children in it as an intended game mechanic. If nothing else.

It would be fun if they made the dog's AI a bit more complex. They've basically been the same ever since they were introduced except minor bug fixes every now and then. Unless you count wild wolves gaining an insatiable thirst for baby turtle blood for some reason

If they gave pandas personalities, why not do it with dogs since players hang out with dogs more often than pandas, especially in survival

It's legit crazy that Microsoft owns one of the most popular games of all time but does absolutely nothing with it. At least when Notch owned it you could explain it as being laziness. I always felt like it had tons of potential but they took it in the stupidest directions and never committed to anything, so now the game is this huge sloppy mess with tons of awful bloat content and no unified vision which makes it impenetrable unless you're massively autistic.

Hytale looks like what Minecraft should have become so I hope it eventually fucking comes out.

>DUDE LET'S ADD A VOTING CONTESTS AND NOT ADD THE OTHER ONES

It was best around 1.7

Does Wynncraft look good? I got an ad for it and it seemed decent

In Notch's case it wasn't laziness, it was incapability.
In the beginning he did big weekly updates all the time. The very reason I bought the game. New features introduced every week. And on top of that extremely interesting mods with regular updates. That was a fucking amazing time.
Everything after that time has been garbage, though. I'm glad I got to experience it, but it's not coming back.

Every fucking update has been absolute shit, they're so focused on adding the stupidest shit that really doesnt add much. "hurdur lets add turtles and foxes haha so cute xDDD"

the new nether update is looking nice

You want greentext story compilations on jewtube. It shows

It's more valuable as a platform for mods at this point.

>hytale
I very much want it to be good, but I can't get my hopes too much until modders have taken it apart to see what the scope for mods really is.

Yeah, it will be fun to try a Nether only survival

more excuses to delay the "make mining interesting" update

90% of minecraft mods are either shit or are incompatible with most other mods in terms of game balance. Also this thread is about shitting on mojang not a critique of MC itself

You could have just said
>old
>new
and the meaning would be the same

fuck azanor for thinking every big update to thaumcraft needs to vastly change how the mod works when TC4 perfected it, making Thaum 6 so shit and leaving the modding scene without releasing the source code for Thaum 4.

>hey devs, can we have a cave update?
>no fuck you, you don’t know what you want. here’s some fucking worthless bees

i can guarantee that all of these mobs would've probably had the same outcome as a way to make you sleep, but just in different situations. the big squid could only appear in water when you haven't slept for a while. the weird toe-nibbler would come and effectively be a silverfish but with the speed of a baby zombie nibbling at your ankles and the Blaze King would punish you for not taking a nap before going to the nether. all we could've been deciding was if it was in the air, sea, land, or nether and nothing more.

Funny, By updatong the nether and giving the nether cave systems they apparently tweaked a bit how caves work
The nether update is a mini cave update.

but if i said that then i wouldn't have gotten a reply.

in my opinion new complex mechanics should stay as mods, updates with pillagers and equipment stronger than diamond ruin the feel of the game

>2020
>still no large doors to accommodate large structures

Yeah, no shit.
It's pretty unbelievable how little new content there's been since Notch left.
Still feels like it's just a small indie game developed by a single dude in his basement. I have no idea what the dev team is actually doing.
I don't hate the game, but Minecraft is just the ultimate "what could have been" thing.

I immediately lost any hope I could’ve had for Hytale the second I found out that its from Hypixel.

they are updating the nether and next major update is most likely going to update the caves

why is that?

It shouldn't take 10 years to do something like that tho, they've been sat on their thumbs for like a decade just adding animals and flowers ffs.

Yeah I know, but how can it take that long. Since 2010, there's been like one single update to the nether.
Modders can do impressive content in much shorter time, how is it so hard for the Mojang team.

Piston doors aren't even that complicated.

Their Minecraft server is notorious is notorious for being highly pay to win, so much so that Mojang made an EULA to make them knock it off.
That combined with the fact that they never mentioned how they’re gonna monetize the game gives me the feeling that Hytale will have the same P2W shit of their Minecraft server.

this biome with no lava, no netherrack, more obsidian lakes, and more blue fire would look cool

Piston doors aren't aesthetically pleasing.

We're definitely getting a cave update, if only because they'll have to change these pieces of shit eventually
These things literally haven't changed since infdev

I believe Mojang does want to do their absolute best with the caves because there's been a unanimous high demand for so long
1.16 was just a "warm-up" to see what they could do with the new tools at their disposal (3D biomes, ID changes, etc.) seeing as the nether is basically a giant cave
They didn't want to tackle it until they were sure they could do it right, and they may have finally reached that point

Generally, I really feel like Mojang's getting their bearings back with this one, it's been an uncharacteristically massive update
There was a real slump from 2015-2018, but 1.13+ seems to be the start of a new renaissance, likely bolstered by that block ID change
If they can maintain the momentum from 1.16 I'm honestly excited to see what's next

Wow user took you a while to realize that

It's a Basalt Delta, it wouldn't make sense for lava to not be there.

The new Nether update is trash. What's the point of making the Nether more like the Overworld. It's supposed to be a harsh environment that needs preparation before exploring it.

the only thing i've played on hytale is the skyblock, and there is no sense of P2W, the only shit you can buy with real world money is cosmetic shit. i have hope.

why are all the new textures so uncomfy
why does the new music sound nothing like anything c418 made for the game or on his own
why are the villagers not FUCKING PIGMEN LIKE THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO BE

It's really awkward realizing how little there really is to do in MC outside of creative mode.

I mean, after you get the bed you're pretty much denying the whole threat that is the night. The addition of running, while great for mobility, kinda sucks because the mobs all walk like uninterested old-men. Why can't they just make the mobs faster? Iunno. As is, unless a creeper surprises you in a closed space, there is basically no threat, specially if you have armor.

You mine and mine pretty much the same minerals you would have 10 years ago, so you can use those minerals to build more stuff to build more minerals, so you can craft something that doesn't really matter because there is no real threat...

Mods are cool, but to actually play them is a pain since compatibility differs from one to the next, so you might want to add more mobs to your game AND a teleportation device, but no, you gotta choose one or the other.

I really wish I could get into Terraria, but fuck, I can't.

Basalt Deltas are absolute kino.

I'm pretty sure you just described a mod there..."plenty biomes" or something, right?

Why are some games expected to be constantly updated, especially when they're one time purchases, when others can just release as is and that's that, maybe get a few patches.

whats the best mod then

The nether is still hard, the only difference that it's liveable now

ok, i was never in touch with the MC community and shit. WTF is the "cave update"?

funny rat mod :DDDD
twilight forest

Nice Minecraft thread.
What mods should I use to make this a fun 2 person co-op game? Not just for playing Lego, but an actual game with resources, combat and developing a base and there being some sort of thread and pressure and goal, for a 2 person team.

Attached: hexcraft.jpg (1280x720, 211.53K)

that pic is the most reddit thing ever.

What's the best modpack?

There are no such things as completely original ideas. He did good, his a programmer, not a game designer.

so microsoft could get rid of the toxic "zombie pigmen" which was way too "video gamey" and not progressive enough

>twilight forest
youre okay user

>compatibility differs from one to the next
yeah no that's bullshit, there's usually barely any compatibility issues with mods. Look at literally any kitchen sink modpack my guy.

Nether was an empty wasteland that is only useful for getting blaze powder, wither skulls and maybe quartz if you are a builder. It's was a giant, singe biome with nothing but lava and a single dungeon that wasn't updated in 10 years. It wasn't challenging, it was boring and tedious. Mojang made Nether actually fun to explore while managing to keep it difficult. If you don't like Warped Forest, then I don't even know what to say to you.

>Sonce then all mojang has done is release an update every year or two which adds 10 - 15 minutes of weak content
That is exactly what notch did since the moment the game got vaguely popular. Literally a week after the original "10k in a day" shit he just completely stopped on content and the game has stagnated ever since. I will never not feel the game was a huge let down.

You're supposed to build your own shit, make the world your own with builds. Minecraft is about being creative and making your own content

witchcraft and wizardry despite it being shilled in mainstream media

Redstone bores me. All the useful shit is simple and the complicated shit is like playing a different game. Oh great, circuit design. I thought I was playing a building/survival game. Why not just go program?
