Why does Yas Forums pretend that Starbound is a bad game?

Anything is better than Starbound.
I don't know how you fuck up a game so bad that very early versions are way better than the finished product.
Not even mods can save the atrocity that it is.

the lack of any story content or objective magnifies my feelings of emptiness towards life. Playing it makes me feel like I'm Sisyphus rolling the boulder up a mountain.

Must of been quite awhile since you played. There's plenty of objectives, a couple bosses including one that sends you to credits, and tons of achievements. It doesn't point you where to go because it isn't linear like that, but there IS progression.

back when this place wasn't overrun by zoomzooms, we used to hate this game
mostly because notch betrayed us and not because of the actual game but it's still a casualized autism simulator

Starbound isnt as bad as it used to be but its my first and last ever experience with backing/preordering games and it was a fucking nightmare.

It raised so much money, and all of it was pissed away on a very mediocre, and to this day, unfinished mess. Still had my fun with it though, playing custom tunes on planets chocked with players and going through the story was alright enough.

The worst thing that is wrong about it is that it is now a staple game for children and manchildren and they're giving it way too much praise to compensate for themselves being shit on for being spastic over a lego game when they were underage
It's an alright game at best, but its update cycle was atrocious for a long time and for some reason almost everyone started playing during beta 1.7.3
Its only redemption is that notch is mocking trannies on twitter

Because it was stuck in early access development hell for the longest time.
It got to the point where nothing was being updated, and people were trying to get steam to get the game refunded, in which they put out the bare minimum of updates to ensure that didn't happen.
I still want my $15 back.

I've owned minecraft since alpha and it always sucked. Terraria shit all over it from day one.

There's multiple new biomes in the nether, villages do a ton of new shit now, there are evil villagers that can actually raid villages and they have villager exclusive mobs like the Ravanger, there's new mobs in the Nether, there's a new chestplate that let's you fly/glide, there's a new boss, tons of new mobs, and new achievements, just off the top of my head.

Yeah, it really is. Tons to do in a world of your own design. Is it greatest game ever made in the entire world? Nah. Is it fun, especially with friends? Absolutely

Don't forget shit like beacons and them making almost everything automatable. With the next update it seems like it'll even be possible to completely live in the Nether.
Minecraft has only been better and I say that as someone that's been playing since before the Halloween update.

ngl Nether Update is the best thing that happened on Minecraft in years, they finally dropped the "diamond is best, deal with it" mindset and are actually expanding the game, it feels like a Terraria update and I fucking love it. I hope they keep this up for the future with new biomes, mobs, structures, etc.
Guess Hytale has made them panic.

terraria is good for actually playing videogames
starbound is good for 5 minutes of degeneracy and then not touching it again for the rest of the week

Yeah, Netherite seems right. It's hard as fuck to get but is crazy good. Nice addition. I wonder if this means they plan on adding new harder shit to the game. As it stands enchanted Diamond gear destroys the Wither and Ender Dragon, so Netherite seems like over kill
