Before you go "dur hur Nomura will cut out everything now", Nomura knows we're here to replay Final Fantasy 7 in a different way. Even the most salty naysayer will end up giving it a play to see their nostalgic setpieces come to life again.
It makes more sense for Hojo to suggest mako-infused humans breed Aerith than a random lab rat dog he has in his lab.

Showing Sephiroth and Aerith's death is actually good, because everyone knows it by now. Even those who haven't played the original. They're just both too iconic.
And they played around that very well, by showing the party those events, and the party now thinking that they need to save Aerith, which potentially puts the planet at risk again and plays into Sephiroth's hands. So instead of just remaking the same shit in better graphics, they actually found a way to make it interesting again.

Can someone spoiler the ending of FF7R for me? Because I've seen a thread with post from resetera where the guy claimed to be contemplating suicide over it and I want to know what this is all about.
