Where is my Disgaea 6?

I actually never played it. Is it bad?

nothing wrong with gameplay standpoint, aside of western release being fucked over, which is mostly in working order now as long you load your save game twice every time.
problem is writing. it's fucking horrible and shits all over disgaea 1 characters and story.

basically Laharl now is doting older brother character. (of a his angel siste which happened to be in his mother's womb turns out all along)
Etna is tsundere cute little sister character. (which main story all goes around cause she suddenly have brother for no reason)
Tons of useless secondary characters pop up you never care about. None of actual good Disgaea 1 characters return aside of basically main trio.
It all presented as some shitty fanfic, story all over the place.

I think even NIS knows what clusterfuck they made - that's why it's stuck on PS3 without any rerelease or port.
Sadly it's still considered canon. It was written by different people, only thing original Disgaea writer added is Laharl gender bender chapter which was slightly amusing but that's about it.

yea. They are pretty decent, depends on taste tho.
I personally love 3 way more than 2, but 2 has it's own fans. It also has Axel mode which rocks. And felonies which suck.
I guess you played shounen wanna be 5, so 2 is way, way, way, waaaay better written 5. 5 was just boring and bland.
3 is school theme, some people have a problem with that. I don't. Protagonist a bit weak but that's about it.

I wonder how many sprites they need to update for those two. Tho considering half assed 1 Complete, they shouldn't have much of issue of porting 2 and 3 in whatever state.

fair enough too. I just don't treat her as hostile cause it was only time I actually felt I playing some sort of disgaea game and not shitty fanfic during D2.
I know the argument "well money from mobage will fund actual games", but it's always a hard pill to swallow.
It seems to be on same level of "buy bad games, so eventually they make a good game in this franchise" or something.
Mobage just funds more mobage I'd say.

It's Makai Wars, it's a gacha and plays like a very simple TRPG
He comes close to the style but yeah you can definitely notice it's someone imitating the style and not the man himself.

They infinitely milk Asagi for this game, it's so sad. I was so excited for the Asagi Diaries when I was translating them on the NISA forum, then with the announcement that there was gonna be a Makai Wars, which turned out to be a promotional concert... then the announcement that she'd get to be the main character in a game finally, along with the figurine stuff, and then just nothing, until they announced the mobage.

The intro cutscenes had me hooked. I'm assuming the team that did this were also responsible for Prinny, Rose in the Twilight etc? NIS don't talk about their employees much.

No clue, never played those. Speaking of Prinny though, how are those games? My impression is they have a cult following among NIS fans and that they're surprisingly challenging. With the remaster coming to Switch I might pick it up depending on circumstances.

Unfortunately, what do you expect? Mobage are cheap to make and mean they can shit out idea after idea that wouldn't necessarily be feasible in a full budget game.

Phantom Thief Artina is a fucking great concept, but unless they made her the focus of an episodic DLC for a main game, no one would care. People certainly wouldn't buy simple reskins for existing units in a mainline Disgaea.

Doubt it, Prinny team is probably the (original) Disgaea team. Rose in the Twilight, liar princess, htol niq etc are probably a separate team since those games are very similar in tone.
They are great games if you like retro platformers and masocore games. Imagine Ghosts n goblins but with mashing.
I'm hoping they port them to PC too, Prinny 2 was one of my favorite games.

I bought it digital for PS4, would have gotten the LE but it didn't get an EU release and I wasn't able to fork out the cash for LE plus international shipping with a third party. Would've bought the fucking plush of her too which I hate that I missed out on. I love the game, a lot. Honestly probably my GOTY 2019.

Man, I wish we got these here in the west. I honestly really don't care about the gameplay in this specific case, I love the Disgaea and other NIS characters so much I'll take anything with more of them.

I dunno about cheapness honestly, it does seem to me they are not that cheap depending on case to case basis. After all each one of them relies on online infrastructure. That shit costs money to develop and maintain.
Adding content is cheap, that I agree on.
