roguelite*
and yes

It isn’t a lite at all...

It's pretty mediocre by roguelike standards. It attracts a fair amount of normalfags because of tileset though.
I suspect OP's one of them.

elona

It's a traditional Roguelike. Shit like Binding of Issac is a Roguelite.

I still like Crawl, but I think Roguelites are more fun as a whole.

unlocks and a static worldmap isn't traditional

>you're a normalfag if you enjoy one of the four most recommended games of a respective genre
imagine being this pretentious

it's literally the same thing you pedantic faggot

>nu-elona
>implying it wasnt ruined by CDDA autists who wanted "realism" in an anime themed roguelike

Attached: ENeDACJU4AAvovT.jpg (1024x999, 86.08K)

I like ADOM more, but TOME is still good

Of course it's popular, It's whatever people recommend to normalfag newcomers. I do, too.
Same with DDA and Stone Soup. Those too are not that good, but won't repel a room temp IQ people as much.

It fits the Berlin Interpretation.
The Book says its not.

Attached: not a roguelike.jpg (315x414, 33.72K)

Soup is great though.

OH NO
A FEW EXTRA GAMEPLAY FEATURES

IT ABSOLUTELY CANNOT BE A ROUGELIKE ANYMORE!!!11

Attached: 183.jpg (680x665, 211.58K)

Soup was great before devs went apeshit on "balancing" the game.
Now literally any fork is better than the main game.

your mother

No, but this one is.

Attached: 1473264082928.png (480x300, 111.98K)

Oh, I agree for sure, even though I still play 0.16 trunk

Any good and recent roguelikes?

Azure Dreams

Game called roguelike when it's like Rogue - have three main feature: procedural generation, permanent death, turn based.
Game called roguelite when it's have some but not all Rogue features, for example Binding of Isaac because game isn't turn based.

Are there any good hentai roguelikes?

if you wanna bother with a psp emulator
try
zhp unlosing ranger and rengoku: the tower of purgatory

though rengoku is actually more of an action roguelite desu

yes

Fucking rogue-autists.

*blocks your path*

Attached: images.png (300x168, 4.34K)

I would argue that roguelikes also require survival elements like hunger also rpg mechanics like stats and skills.

update recently too, still need to load it up

Not a roguelike

I kind of want to make a porn-y mystery dungeon-like but I'd have to grind my pixel art skills for a while since I'm so out of practice

you don't need art skills to make a roguelike
especially porn roguelike

your ability to write is way more important

Attached: korean smt.jpg (723x659, 141.59K)

This game suffers from DF syndrome.

Way, way too needlessly convoluted. Even something as basic as boarding up a window takes reading like twenty books, 20 different materials and twenty different skills.

I really want to make my own Roguelike. I'd just draw everything like this in mspaint though.

Attached: toothless adversary1.png (608x662, 14.78K)

>art
If you're gonna put art in it, why make it a dungeon-like at all?

DESU a game like Nethack but every monster/person has procedurally generated descriptions and can enslave/fuck you and vice versa would be fun as fuck.

If I wasn't a codelet I'd do it myself. Closest thing I can think of is Lilith's Throne, but that game has no actual gameplay beyond just the fighting.

Attached: 1522373467072.jpg (684x1104, 139.03K)

Because pixel porn is SOUL

Attached: 1567845141836.gif (257x257, 3.97M)

really?
the problem for me is after getting used to all that tedium, theres nothing more really worth aiming for after that
really after downing a bunch of mutagens and triggering a bunch of nukes on some underground lab i raided
i kinda got bored with the game

i mean you go through all the effort of grinding your stats just so you can start modding cars without those stupid tools to lift the engines but the pay off is just so you can run over zombies with your car with "better" efficiency

Pixel porn is really shitty 99% of the time. It's why all those metroidvania porn games all get completely ignored, even ones with a ton of work put on them.

Don't be like that. Just buy pack of sprites from artist.

>Tales of Maj'Eyal
>even buying the game requires you to do some deep googling
Amazing.

I always liked dungeons of dredmor.
Don't think I ever managed to finish it though.

>lmao why draw your own artwork for your passion project that nobody cares about? Why don't you SPEND MONEY on it instead so nobody can care about it then?!
Yeah, no. That defeats the whole point.

Attached: shazank1.png (529x542, 11.23K)

>pressing buy in Steam require googling
Truly amazing.

>literally free
>wants to buy it
What a retard, lol.

>that nobody cares about?
Oh, it's a hobby for you, then you are right.

It's literally the author's piss and scat fetish ruining everything

Anyone else enjoy tangledeep? It's like mainlining SNES era nostalgia.

It's free you dumbass.

It's pretty good but there is not much complexity to it.

Yeah it's essentially the only like available on the Switch that is worth playing. I wish there was a bit more variety to things, but otherwise it's really good and is getting some steady updates. Unfortunately the dev's new upcoming game doesn't look very interesting at all.

it's the only one i enjoy really

ToME has way too many popcorn enemies. It makes you unfocused and then you just get one-shotted by the first actually dangerous enemy that wanders into your screen.

Kind of like real life? Pretty sure if you go wandering through a forest you're going to run into about 900 rabbits and birds before you encounter a bear.

>not sticking with custom G
your fault for following the autism fork of elona

Who /ADOM/ here?

You could make the same criticisms of a lot of roguelikes, honestly. It's better than having to ; at every single thing that you find.

ZHP is crazy under-appreciated

You could at least give some sauce with that user.

Demon is a cool roguelike
Imagine SMT but as a roguelike

based

Attached: fuking skellington.png (597x1598, 254.82K)

>Stoneshard looks interesting
>only available on Steam because the devs are faggots
T-thanks, devs

Attached: 1548679740649.png (240x240, 24.1K)

I've never played SMT, sell me on Demon.

It's honestly not very good.

honestly i can see why most people would over look it
i would compare it to a scenario if somehow gearbox made a very well mades roguelike game but its borderlands themed so nobody will even bother with it

I think I'm too casual to play a game without tilesets bros, I'm not a fan of ascii-everything

Yeah, but it looks interesting at least, and I wouldn't mind trying it. I've already played so much of the good ones.
Qud isn't very good in an objective sense either, but I've been having a lot of fun playing that lately.

You pick a starting 'class' that determines what set of abilities you can choose to start with. There's standard rpg elements like fire/ice/lightning/mind/matter and shit and they come in different forms and effects. Every demon has different resistances/vulnerabilities/immunities.

Every enemy you encounter is a demon, and demons can be recruited to your party. Every demon has a different requirement to be recruited.
Bitch-ass basic goblins might want to negotiate for example and take some healing items. Cowardly demons may need you to stay in their line of sight for X turns. Very powerful unique demons may require you to kill another rival unique demon, but also come with unique and powerful skills.

You can learn skills from your demons or transfer your owns kills onto demons. You can also fuse demons together to make new demons with an additional modifier that gives them extra skills.

If demons die they die. Permadeath as it should be.
You can have up to 3 demons out at a time and summoning/dismissing them takes a turn which can make doing that during combat dangerous and you really need to strategize your encounters

play SMT nigger

Tilesets are fine. I prefer some games (Dwarf Fort) without tilesets, but there is nothing wrong with using tilesets and anyone who says otherwise is a gatekeeping grognard faggot who trying way too hard to fit in in the edgy kool kid's klub.

I much prefer (square) ASCII tilesets for the scenery but I like the utility of being able to identify an enemy by looking at it rather than (l)ooking at it

Love Qud

It's like that quote from the Matrix, right? At first it seems impossible but eventually you don't even see the ascii anymore.
That said, there's nothing wrong with tilesets. If you really want to try ascii, pick a game you already know really well and see if that makes a difference.

I'm not sure what game it's from actually, I just saved it into my gamedev inspiration folder

Is anything better than Ivan?

>Love Qud
Live and drink, friend. Best modern roguelike or bestest modern roguelike?
Can't wait for some more main quest updates so we can cause the end of the world (again)

I got like 10 regular ending wins on the steam version, kinda stopped playing when they changed the UI.

Looks rad, but is it only dungeon delving or does it have towns and stuff?

>ToME
>MMO Cookstown
No thanks.

Sounds interesting... so you as the player character get stronger, and also have demons to act as your companions, but you can't control them directly? Sounds like it was half-inspired by Wizardry IV which is amazing. Thanks, user, I'll check it out.

It's in the backlog

other user, sorry to say I don't know the source but you might want to check out forest of blue skin

Dungeon delving only with no towns. It's a bit like DOOMRL in the sense of being dungeon-only with optional side-dungeons that contain fancy equipment (or demons in this case).

no sadly

Based. Couldn't you just revert the version or does Steam not allow you to do that?
How about those Ultras, user?
