Want to build a pc for the first time

>want to build a pc for the first time
>prepared to spend at least 1k on build
>series x and PS5 have comparable specs for half the price
Why bother building a PC right now? Will GPUs cheaper or am I missing something other than paying double for the ability to upgrade down the line.

You can browse Yas Forums, use windows 10 and such on a pc.
Also all the games ever made

>comparable specs
KEK. A 1k computer is going to fucking blow away these consoles

Aside from that though, consoles are about mid range computers on release for $150-$250 less because they're an economy that Xbox/Sony knows you have to invest in once you buy. The price difference is already nullified after the first year of paying for their online service, and these things last 7 years.

Post the part picker user

I mean, if you want to continue paying to play games online, forced to use a controller instead of being given the choice to use it over a keyboard and mouse and generally get less games, go ahead.

There's no point right now. You should wait at least a year for prices to become sane again.

ps5 isnt even released yet. you are buying a 1k computer that is faster as a console released next year.

If you buy more than 5 games a year, get a PC. Games being cheaper is not a meme.

You'll most likely be guaranteed 60 FPS at all times outside of poorly optimized games. Unlike consoles which are stuck with 30 fps most times.

Also in general games are cheaper with sales so the cost is lesser overlal.

Plus a PC is a computer so it can do a fuckload more than a console.

However now is not the time to build a PC - wait until about 18 months after the new xbox/ps is released to get an idea of what gpu you should get

They're also free on PC :v)

I'd probably also be spending another 200-300 on a nicer monitor
About as far as I've gotten
Other than CS I only really use controllers but the online point makes sense

Do Pkeks really think consoles dont have web browsers

I've got a computer just not one that is optimized to play games

If you like to play indie retro platformers and CS and DOTA shit then build a PC

>euro truck simulator
>osu

>shitposting on Yas Forums

name one console which can fill my computing needs

what an idiot right. I only ever browse Yas Forums with my 3ds web browser

Can you even post images from a shitty console web browser?

That RAM is about $40 overpriced.
Consider a B450 Tomahawk for your Mobo. It's the best bang for the buck if you're going budget. You can also find a 2070 for around $360 if you look around.

Most importantly if you're not in a rush to build, wait for sales. r/buildapcsales is a great list of current deals, and if you play it all right buying your parts on sales you could save hundreds of dollars.

In theory yeah, if you import them from your pc with a flash drive

I kinda thought the consoles would be shit and i always wanted to build a PC by myself

Went with a 3600 and a 2060 and the new consoles will outclass it with 8 core CPU for like £450-550 when my PC cost me £880 to build in total

Gaming is a degenerate hobby op, the less you spend on it the better.
If you want to play new vidya, wait until ps5/xbx get released and some more to get an used one.
If you dont care about lgbt forced diversity and movie games like all that are currently released, get a pc and pirate everything.
Even better, spend your money on books and play chess.com on your iphone. Get a pullup bar or a gym membership when corona ends. That would make your ancestors proud

Do you got a 4k monitor? because honestly you could cheap out on the GPU, I got a GTX 950 and honestly been kicking it really fucking well, I am not running everything at ultra but toning down some graphic settings on my shitty monitor really doesn't makes a difference. Also with that you are future proofing yourself by a wide margin, to the point where it could survive the next gen of consoles past this coming one.

Other than that, aside exclusives, the selling point of consoles is it's price entry, while seemingly powerful if we go by the previous generations they all are the same in general, pieces of metal that run at nigh OC capacity so games run (keyword here being run, not run smoothly) by sheer power of will.

>pirate single player games
>get to play online games without spended $12 a month
There, it already paid for itself. Not to mention that build will still be better than the new consoles.

You didnt do your research.

I don't know if many other PC gamers browse this sub but recently I've grown tired of the whole 'PC gaming' trend. First it was the DRM, then the launchers, then the Epic store deals, then comes all the troubleshooting, yada yada yada I don't really need to explain myself. Point is, I've grown tired of gaming in general and I think the PS5 will revitalize video games for me.
Any other PC players feel the same? I honestly miss the more casual aspect of consoles and jumping back in with the PS5 sounds like a good idea to me.

xsx will have mouse and keyboard support

Yes im on my Xbox right now

Attached: xboxskelly.jpg (790x935, 109.19K)

don't build anything right now independent of consoles.
new stuff is coming out soon and prices may be dropping on a lot of stuff

see

Xbox really has no idea what they're doing.

>want to make a console that's basically a PC
>except it can't do anything but play Xbox games
Maybe if people can hack it to play emulators I'd see some point in it for the right price.

If you already use a computer as part of your daily routine wouldn't it make more sense to have a good computer instead of a shitty computer and a mediocre console?

here (you) go
thanks for the chuckle

>spend 0k on nothing
>play the latest vidya at max settings for free on geforce(tm) now(tm)

Attached: dead end.png (1920x1080, 869K)

motherfucker just pirate your shit.
I gave up on consoles after the PS2 and have played every recent game worth talking about for free.
>but muh gorillion dollars
I have a 1070 and an i5, everything runs at 60fps on a 1080p screen, paid less than $900 in like 2017 for it all.

If the consoles run effectively similar to the PC when it comes to playing games, I'm paying $500 to post on Yas Forums and watch youtube.

B-but my achievements!!

So PC is a meme and consoles win again? lol hilarious all the effort of building a PC and paying extra just to get cucked by a fucking sub $500 system that comes with warranty too HOLY SHIT

I wouldn't use Yas Forums without adblock or youtube.

>>series x and PS5 have comparable specs for half the price
What makes you think so?

Its just a console that has specs of a top of the line 2018 PC.What they are doing is offering people a decent console to pay games on without them having to build a gaming PC.

My question is more about Playstation. What are they doing? Theyre giving people a weaker console and banking on their exclusivity contracts and 1st party games to sell the console. What happens if MS starts buying up some exclusivity contracts too? 1st party sony games are nothing special despite what reddit says.

Yah I'm thinking if anything I'd get a cheaper graphics card that can run barebones shit

A 2060 is a slight step above an Xbone X, the new consoles are around a 2080.

Yes you would

The XSX is around a 2080, the PS5 is not. PS5 is 36 CU, which is around a 2060. 2060 super if RDNA 2.0 is actually as good of an improvement over RDNA 1.0 as AMD markets it to be.

>special despite what reddit says.
People care more about GOW, TLOU and Spiderman than aby traditional xbox exclusive.

People seen to really think anyone on Xbox ever cared about the Fable series

So someone would actually buy a weaker console to play 3 games, while the rest of their entire 7 year gaming experience plays at worse graphics / framerate?

>What happens if MS starts buying up some exclusivity contracts too?
They already did that. All the games sucked or turned into vaporware. I really don't see anything good coming out of Microsoft's studios next gen.
>1st party sony games are nothing special despite what reddit says.
Sure, but they make a fuckton of money. Sony makes movie games but it's what the normies want. Xbox does..... Gears still?

>KEK. A 1k computer is going to fucking blow away these consoles

>already running the same as a 2080,plus dont have to buy any accesory

It's horrible time to build a PC, new consoles are coming out and parts are expensive. Wait a year until the market has settled in, XbX is gonna be stronger than your average gaming PC for a year or two.

Digitalfoundry already did a comparison, they compared it to a 2080 in GPU power

Consider a brand other than MSI
I've got one and there's a loud clicking sound from the fan motor when it's idling at low speed.

You can't compare a console to a PC like. Devs can program for an specific console set up, they can't do that on PC because every computer is gonna have different parts.

>Why bother building a PC right now?
To play tens of thousands of games from 6 decades?
To play the tens of thousands of mods for a plethora of games, multiplying the number of titles and increasing the replay value?
To not have to pay some fishy publishers just to get to play online?
To get to MAKE your own games and mod if you feel like it?
To get to tweak the game's visuals and controls exactly to your liking, potentially improving the service life of the PC as well?
To get to upgrade or fix your system for dirt cheap if you feel like it, instead of needing to buy another 300-500 USD console?
To get to use ANY control device and as many monitors as you desire?
...et cetera.

And no, the console HW will once again be outdated upon arrival, will a pile of corner cuts.

They compared the XSX to a 2080. Not the PS5. The PS5 is a good 20%-30% weaker depending on if it can hold it's overclock.

How powerful is a 2070 super compared PS5? Consolefags and some PCfags told me that its going to become obsolete by next year because muh ray tracing and 12 teraflop consoles.

Surely this is wrong, right? RIGHT?!

Oh yeah I just assumed we were talking about the console every human with a functioning brain will buy

If i build a PC with the 3700x, 8 core Zen 2 CPU with Nvidia RTX 2080 super you have comparible specs with the new Xbox. Those parts cost around 1300,-. So ig you want a case, PSU, motherboard, SSD, RAM and a better CPU cooler its easy to hit 1700,-. You cannot evade this fact. Even if you say the new Xbox will performe around the RTX 2070 Super it's still around 1500,-

Either way paying that much for a 2060 now is a bit much this close to the new consoles when both new consoles are going to be a step above a 2060 anyway. I'd say wait until the 3000 series comes out and decide then
I don't see a reason to pay that much for a PC only to get an experience on par with, or slightly worse than what consoles will have at twice the price.

I would say that the time developers get used to the new console specs they will be performing well within 2080TI territory, just look whats running on the base PS4 with a shitty ancient jaguar CPU and essentially an HD7790

Attached: 1582713436008.jpg (960x983, 151.47K)

>How powerful is a 2070 super compared PS5?
Stronger than the entire system.
Add the other compontents to the mix, and you see how high above PCs tower over consoles.

>will be obsolete yada yada
lol nope. Especially this day and age, when there's no major new innovations happening every other year any more, old components can last nearly a decade without becoming obsolete.
I myself went from GTX 560ti, a video card from 2011, to the GTX 1060 6gb, back in 2017, and it is still doing great at 1080p / 60fps.

The vast majority of people dont have a functioning brain and will get the weaker PS5.

Attached: 1541868232113.jpg (360x480, 37.42K)

>essentially an HD7790
it's HD 6770, and the end result is ugly and obsolete on every possible way. Basic PBR and photo scanned models don't trick me, especially when we still suffer of jumpy 30fps shit and dynamic / upscaled resolutions.

Every console release since the PS1 people have said ITS GOING TO BE STRONGER THAN ANY TOP OF THE LINE PC and every release it's been absolutely wrong.

Notice how they never release benchmarks or any meaningful data you can actual compare. They always just circlejerk their teraflops like that means anything. It's like saying a 2018 Toyota Camry is basically a Challenger RT because they're both 8 speed.

>2070 super compared PS5
It's much better, but will cost what the entire PS5 will cost. That said, once you pirate every single player game and play multiplayer games online without paying for PS+ youll make you money back really fast.

Consoles are cheap but the games are like 50% higher cost and 10eur/usd per month for online, so even if the pc is more expensive upfront it’s cheaper over time

>consoles run effectively similar to the PC when it comes to playing games

Ah yes, silky smooth 30 FPS compared to 144FPS.

I still think that it looks better than anything you can get on PC for 299$

This.
Not to mention this Gflops shit is practically the "Bits" and "Blast Processing" of the 2020s. Simple marketing buzzwords that trick normies and are generally just deceitful in practical terms.

> games are like 50% higher cost

what

>144FPS

are you comparing a 2080TI to 299$ PS4?

>pretending that halo isn’t huge with normies

They aren't lying, consoles are normally more powerful than current gaming PCs at the time of release. They don't stay more powerful for long tho. Which is why it's a bad idea to build a console mid transitional period between generations.

A 2070 will do 1080p144 low settings ,ps4 will do dynamic1080pdynamic30 low settings..

Depends, do you do anything productive on a computer normally? I've been working at home for weeks and my porn/Yas Forums/photography/game machine is worth the money. Plus you can still use an xbone controller if you want. I even use it with Xpadder on my living room machine.

Attached: 1545766960290.png (320x265, 72.95K)

Lol nope. Just compare Nier: Automata on PC to the same game on PS4. The 900p smudge-fest is pretty awful compared to the 1440p glory you get with very underwhelming specs.

Not only were folks already building "PS4 killers" for that money back in 2014, but nowadays you could buy a perfectly serviceable, used PC for that money, with specs that would BTFO even Pro.
My buddy just upgraded from his 1st gen i5 + GTX560 worm box, to an i7 4790K + 16GB + GTX980 powerhouse, for a mere 300€, sharp, earlier last year.
He sold the 980 and got a 6GB GTX1060 for free with the money he got from the deal.

The PS5 is not anywhere close to current mid tier gaming PCs and its not even out till end of this year at best.

It's. $30 a year if you get it on sale(which they do every other month)

More powerful than release year mid range PCs, yeah definitely they're around that level. But the people saying the XSX will be as powerful as a 2080TI are absolutely fucking retarded and need to stop swallowing the marketer cum ropes.

>Series x has comparable specs for half the price
FIFY

N64 and Dreamcast shat on all PCs of their day
360 had the world's most advanced GPU at launch and you didn't see the architecture found in it on PCs until 3 years later
