PS4 fans look like a carpet from years of use

Why does Sony make such obtuse designs?

just get a q tip and scrape it out.. why would you need to take it apart

>doesn't have a torx bit set
Literally an emasculated dweeb.

Buy a can of compressed air.

Torx screws are incredibly common in electronics. The fuck you on about?

There's a couple big plates that you need to remove first before you can access the fans.

You literally answered your own question.

I literally took the top of my ps4 pro off today and it looksed like the picture on the right, even though I never did that before and I've had the ps4 pro for 2 years.
I was hoping that cleaning it would reduce the noise, turns out all I had to do was take out the disc from the disc drive because apparently that's what caused the noise.

I have 2 tool boxes but sony uses some kind of odd screw with a button in the middle that you can't access without special bits.

planned obsolescence; never meant to need user maintenance.

Even the shittiest screwdriver set should have bits for opening security torx.

Snoyggers have always made shit consoles.

2 tool boxes with five screwdrivers and a few mixed wrenches?

Even that shitty walmart Hyper Tough brand has security torx bits.

I bought a 64 bits chinese screwdriver set off of ebay for 12 usd that has security torx screws. That's on you.

>I have 2 tool boxes
The fuck is in them if not a decent set of torx bits? Torx bits aren't "weird ass" and have been common place in electronics for 50 years.

Technically I do but the smallest is T10 so I needed to order a T9

>>Sony uses weird ass screws on PS4 to discourage you from opening it
A lot of hardware has these and they're considered security screws. It's not to discourage you from opening it, it's a measure to make sure you have the right tools and thus are at least moderately capable of diving into whatever it is you're opening. A Pleb-be-gone™ of sorts.

You can get a set with security torx for about $7 at harborfreight

>Special screws
>Secruity torx which has been around for well over a decade
>Even offered by fuckin iFixit
The company never intended you to open their console because they dont want you to fix it. Blah blah john deere blah. Welcome to planned obsolescence

Nigga just go buy some at lowes. Like go outside

Dude just go to a local hardware store.

Aren't they all closed?

Wrong. Because people are so lazy and can't take 2 minutes to look up what they need to do/get, they will send it away and Sony makes more money

Depends on where you live

Protip: use a regular flat tip (can't remember the size) to open torx sec screws.

at least on the PS4 Pro you don't need any tools to be able to clean the fan. The top can be removed with just your hands.

You don’t own a Tory security bit already? Have you ever opened a console before?

>button in the middle
That means the screws require the security version of the screw bits, just an extra fuck you to the average person's tool box if you don't work on this kind of stuff often. Just go buy a big ass set of pic related for every single bit you already own so you're set, but never use security bits on non-security bits because they're not as sturdy or durable as regular screw bits due to having a hole in the middle, or in the case of the phillips security bits they're slightly askew in shape.

What if i cover the exhaust ports with like a/c filter material?

I lets air through, just not particles.

Attached: air-filter-710x480.jpg (710x480, 35.51K)

>they will send it away and Sony makes more money
How do you figure they make money on that? It's nothing but loss. They have to pay their laborers and they even pay for the express shipping postage.

it would be the intake ports that you want to cover but if you've ever cleaned an AC unit, you'd know that filter's capabilities are limited. Plus, using something like would probably eventually knit its own sweater and obstruct the air getting in, in addition to insulating one of the airways and making the whole unit get hotter.

>My PS4 Pro occasionally sounds like a fucking jet engine (but not nearly as much as my original PS4)
>People honestly think the PS5 is going to be any different when they have to make the argument that it's totally a 10 because of it overclocking

You need to cover the intake not the exhaust

By all means do this and come back to us after you PS4 melts.

Where's the fighting games Rugga? I wanna see some MvCI, SF5, GBVS, Guilty Gear Xrd so I could post it in fighting game generals.

I simply have little reason to play fighters much anymore.

I don't have any torx and I open them anyway with a regular one that fits more or less making some pressure and force, shit ain't difficult user

Is that the one the wii used. I have to do this shit myself soon.

I bought a used xbox 360 elite built in mid 2007 that came with all sorts of games like cod4 and i opened it up to dust it out. To my amazement there wasnt a speck of dust.

>not having access to a vacuum cleaner

this
if the answer isn't a flat "money" it's usually "to prevent you from saving money"

oh your PS4 has gorged itself on dust? buy a pro, goy

>shit design
>runs hot as fuck
Based soney

how do you not have security bits? it's like when I go to someone's house and they don't have a HDMI cable

PS5 will be the same deal until the slim comes out.

It's installing stuff from the disc onto the ps4, it usually quiets down after about 5-10 minutes for me

You can unscrew torx security screws with a very small flat head screwdriver.
I recently opened and cleaned a PS3 super slim which also has a few of these screws.

>Protip: use a regular flat tip (can't remember the size)
The smallest you can find. I did this with my PS3 super slim. It was easy and it doesn't strip the screws.

No, they don’t. Why would you even post something so retarded?

TPTORX
tamperproof torx

You can buy tptorx at any napa or o'reillys

>muh secret bits

Attached: 20200410_145900.jpg (3264x2448, 2.59M)

saw this on YouTube before so i opened mine up to check and it was perfectly clean after years of use in a dusty room. as long as you don't have it on your floor it's probably fine

yall think fasteners designed with bits are bad try removing the ignition switch out of any 90's or 00's vehicle.

pic related

you gotta spin em out with a hammer and chisel

Wow impressive bionicles collection
Fucking screwdriver dweeb. Go screw your mother, asshole

>no Robertson
Wow completely useless

>still no Robertson
What gives? It’s the third most common screw type

Dumb leaf

p good

What does that have to do with a screwdriver?
