Why the fuck did this genre just disappear?
ASSFAGGOTS
Yeah that sounds about right
Warcraft 3 killed the genre by allowing people to make derivatives that people enjoy more than the game itself.
Nothing wrong with custom games retard
Starcraft custom games were better
I never said there was anything wrong with them retard
>I miss RTS bros..
Then play an RTS.
Was just playing SC op, theres still plenty of people on the ladder, atleast around platinum.
Based Command and Conquer is coming back in a couple months
Zoomers don't play rts
Didnt they release a mobile gacha game or some shit? Why would you trust them after that
it didn't go anywhere. just play it
Because the most fun way to play them is the least effective, and that turns people off
Normal people want to build a base, defend it, make an army and crush the enemy because that's fun.
"Real" RTS play is ultra high-stress multitasking and scouting where you autistically focus for 15 mins straight only to find out you already lost 10 mins ago. Followed by an anti-climactic 'gg' that ends the game without anyone getting blown up.
Successful genres are fun to play optimally and RTS is not
Sounds like you complain you’re shit at the game. There are ranks for that purpose. If you dont want to be stresses out and take your time then you belong in bronze
I'm not giving a personal complaint. I'm explaining why RTS is dead outside of a handful of autists.
And I'm right btw
I want to love SC2 but it's just too stressful. I've gotten to D2 and I think this is as far as I'm going to go. I like watching the game more than playing it
The SC 2 coop missions are awesome. Love them.
I just want single player campaigns, scenarios and maybe map/scenario editor so that people make more stuff.
you're literally proving his point moron
YOU MUST CONSTRUCT ADDITIONAL PYLONS
diamond sc player, can confirm
>sc2 is still alive and f2p
>brood war is bigger than ever
Then play them nigga its not like blizzard turned the servers off
user...
Kinda true for starcraft, but not every single RTS...
You are misconstruing high level play and fun, no one but yourself is stopping you from playing your meme builds but you still have to execute them correctly user even in bronze
fuck zerg players
fuck protoss players
fuck jannies
fuck niggers
This. There's like a million of them. I start many of them on the hardest difficulty and switch when I'm filtered or bored then try again later.
stay gold, terran boy
I hate prism tanks so much
This
I'd love more rts with good campaigns, a good custom editor to grow a new custom scene and also build on the coop mode starcraft 2 has.
>SC2 still alive
>BW doing better than ever
>WC3 still alive despite Blizzard's best efforts to kill it
>tfw still playing all of them
OP is a faggot as always.
Fuck off, Artosis
I worship her
because the worlds shit, wait until America is executed then we will play again
This. Artosis loves starcraft more than anyone in the world and this is what it makes him do
clips.twitch.tv
i think, MOBA and mobile "strategy" just replace RTS
>her
sc2 is still kicking, you should watch the latest gsl finals between maru and dark it was one of the best sets I’ve ever watched
absolutely disgusting
His problem is that new rts games are rare.
I miss Dune's clone too...
Based
scr, sc2 and aoe2 hd are very much alive and fun to play
I dont tho, because they feel like work when you try to get good, so I just play for the campaigns and I have fun
you should try it user
Thats a men in denial you faggot.
Does anyone actually like shit like injecting larva/call down mule/chronoboost?
sc2 is still alive and well, dont know what OP's problem is
all have their utility and inject beats making a ton of macro hatches desu
I understand your point but that wasn't an obstacle during the genre's heyday. People who didn't enjoy that competitive style made "no rush" games, compstomp games, and noob only games. Maybe esports changed the culture.
That has nothing to do with what the guy you're quoting is saying, though.
comedy gold
What game? I'm new to the RTS genre.
Larva injects are retarded, it just feels like a dumb "apm sink" to make zerg artificially harder, though it feels a lot better now that you can just shift-click injects and forget about it. BW just felt more logical to me - need more larva, make more hatchs. Chrono boosts are cool in theory, until you realise protoss upgrades take literally forever without them. MULEs are cool, and supply depot hats are a nice crutch for beginners.
Red Alert 2, great game.
>it just feels like a dumb "apm sink" to make zerg artificially harder
I would bet money that this is actually the intention with all of these "macro mechanics".
Red Alert 2 but it's a bitch to run in W10. You are forced to use a CNC-Ddraw (d3d9) renderer that comes with the latest CNCNet update or standalone and replace the main ddraw.dll used or else the game crashes randomly.
>2020
>Terran is still the most honest race
Of course that's what it's for. The game is about piling up tasks faster than you can complete them. You want to overwhelm your opponent and visa versa
It is, they felt they needed to add shit like that to make up for the game being mechanically easier than BW. Larva injects are the one that feel really forced to me though, feels more like a job than a mechanics that's supposed to help you.
There are 33k people playing AoE2:DE right now
Forced online ladder system kills anything that isn't easily accessible. Ladder pressures people to perform and if the game requires a lot of training to find success in, you start seeing it as something that you must train for before having fun. It may or may not be true, but that's how the majority will look at it and thus they'd rather find another game.
>remove zergs t3
>terrans still whining
>just don't have matchmaking in a game where a slightly better player is 95% favored to win
>be me
>last time i played starcraft was 15 (or maybe more) years ago
>try to finish the campaign
>after days, i complete the brood war campaign
>i want to try rankeds
>but before that, im gonna practice against the IA
>finally, i'm ready to play rankeds
>get my ass destroyed every single time and drop the game
I'm 20 years late to the party
Should I get Tychus or Stet next for coop? Mostly play Karax and Dehaka.
To be fair, it is kind of a gay matchup, isn't it? I recently started playing SC2 and been trying all races, and in TvZ knowing that a single baneling can wipe out half your army is not fun at all, and it usually seems like if the terran doesn't deal some huge damage with their big push they're kind of fucked. But maybe I'm just bad, who knows.
So far I like Zerg the most because ling/bane/muta plays like my ghoul/garg style in WC3, but I almost want to main Terran instead because it feels more chalenging. Brotoss is ok I guess, dark templar fun unit.
Maybe I should just play random and do retarded strats every game, I don't know.
The ladder is there to make it so you're matched with players around your skill level, retard
>nooo but I don't want to improve
Then play custom games or try another genre.
Currently alive RTS games that are getting content patches and/or players regularly:
>AoE2
>Starcraft 1/2 (barely)
>Zero-K
Literally three games. How did PCfags let the genre become so neglected? Fighting game fags have like 5 new games a year to look forward to and the genre is niche as fuck. How the fuck has nobody made a new RTS game people want to stick around and play for a little a little bit? Not even any indie ones besides Zero-K? Is it really that hard to make an RTS?
>rural internet
>so laggy every command takes 3 seconds to communicate
>mfw I win a game
Why would you ever play bio? Once I started using battlemech my winrate went from garbage to about 90%, and I pray to be matched against zerg every time
These set of posts perfectly encapsulates the stupidity of Yas Forums. They deserve to be on a plaque somewhere when aliens find the burnt out remains of this website.
Yes, they made it clear from that start that this is the intension behind them.
BW was so great because you had to divide your attention between managing your economy and your army and there was no way to do both perfectly or even reasonably well. When sc2 allowed people to select multiple buildings, managing the economy got almost trivially easy. You can just press your hatchery hotkey, hold z and queue 100 zerglings without having to look away from your army once. People wanted their multiple building selection because it's the current year, so now they have to deal with these unnatural tacked on apm sink game mechanics because it turns out that if you can concentrate to your army 100% of the time the game is not at all that deep.
Too much emphasis on esports shit, not enough on single player content
