When he lights up green shoot him with the Supershotgun/Balista, then quickly dodge behind him and hit him again -> repeat until he's dead.
excellent game design, really makes me feel like a badass exploiting permastun
He'd be more fun to fight if he was faster and more aggressive imo
>they wanted an invasion mechanic like dark souls
>couldn't get it to work so they put this asshole in the game instead
he's just not fun to fight
That's fucking right, they DID want the invasion mechanic in the game, is it really not in the final game?? That's fucked if it isn't
its not, at least not yet
apparently they ran into issues with the whole mechanic and had to fix it.
>can't reconize bad game design
cute tummy!
Still he's not fun to fight he feel more like chore then anything else.
A lot of things in eternal feel like zenimax told them to hold content back for later patches so they could use those patches to keep people coming back and therefore playing battlemode.
It's like when they were brainstorming for ideas for this game they includes every stupid little idea everyone had at that conference table.
Who mentioned him being hard, shitlord? He's just annoying.
Sucks it's not in main game, when it hits by update it sounds good and will finally give me a reason to customize and replay the game until the dlc comes out
He's underwhelming as a boss and obnoxious as a rare enemy. They should have made him a boss who first fights with his axe but loses it in favor of a supershotgun with the meathook. That way, the player gets an awesome reward for killing his ass. Then have lesser versions of him pop up with shields that can be temporarily broken after an obscene amount of firepower and only one of those attack patterns. It is fine that he can soak regular weapon damage with the shield but it makes no sense for the BFG and crucible to be virtually useless against him.
You're right I'm gonna do the same thing and despite kinda liking Battlemode, I wish they would add a classic deathmatch mode like 2016's only keeping the Slayer mechanics intact. They could go back to Classic Doom's multiplayer and just let us duke it out in Campaign maps.
also: BFG is ineffective against him and you can't use the red blade against him (whatever it's called).
and the devs made sure to disable cheats in the console so you can't turn on godmode just to get rid of him and then disable godmode again
You can kill him with the crucible but you have to stagger him with grenades first, it's super hard to pull off and because they never intended you to do it the animation is ass.
they don't have proper deathmatch? i've only played the free edition so i can't access multiplayer
I can beat him without too much issue now but now there's no more fun in fighting him.
I think the whole idea was a waste. When he's hard he's TOO hard because of other bullshit in the vicinity and when you figure him out, there's no satisfaction in beating him.
He should have just been a straight up boss, 1v1, and you fight him multiple times.
MOTO MOTO
>I can cheese it so it's good game design
Every single thread.
they got rid of that since most reviewers and people complained about it being just a generic arena shooter. I always liked it because it reminded me of Quake or Halo
Hugo said they got rid of it to do something new and if you want classic deathmatch, just play Quake Champions.
They're missing a good opportunity by not making a traditional Slayer vs Slayer battlemode with all the new mechanics they introduced, it'd be way more interesting than 2016's MP. Just keep the controllable demon gimmick and bring back the original modes like Freeze Tag and you're golden.
The popping flood creatures in Halo are annoying. Headcrabs are annoying. Flying enemies are annoying. Where's the butthurt about them?
> BFG is ineffective
> i.imgur.com
wow so ineffective holy shit
dont get smart with me, boy
Cut his health in half and it's instantly improved.
Jesus fucking Christ fucking stop with this fucking enemy holy fucking shit how turdshit much are you fucking going on with this goddamn crap shut that fucking bitch mouth fuck
why is Yas Forums so bad at videogames?
I got to this fight today for the first time, died several times and then my computer crashed and corrupted my save, so I had to start the game over. Tough enemy.
"it's not hard, it's just X" is 9/10 times a shitter's excuse about it actually being hard for him.
I didn't like D:E but holy shit props to them to exposing so many absolute brainlets. Like the moment someone goes "oh, it's just so tedious because there's only one way to deal with marauder" you instantly know what kind of shitnigger you're dealing with.
>hurt me plenty
What a fucking fag.
idk but yeah, having to use 3 limbs to finish a console shooter is pretty meh.
It's just the shield that ruins him for me, or rather his lack of any sort of presence without it. He only really has a few attacks, axes he can't hit you with, a shotgun he'll only use at close range, and the dog that dies in a few shots and is just a distraction. I would've preferred it if they went all in on the 'corrupted Doomguy' angle, gave him more guns, made him dash more and gave him AI beyond running in a straight line at you and meleeing you
None of the concept or promotional art even features his shield so I'm going to asspull hard and assume it was a way later addition scrapped together to make his inclusion worth a damn
I didn't like the game much at first either, but I had an itch to get better at it. I can see now how it would be hard to go back.
Too bad that's the 1 time where it's a legit complaint. It's the only enemy that can't be fought proactively, no way to circumvent his crash bandicoot boss armor bullshit outside of when explicitly permitted - after which he can be trivialised with the SSG/Ballista combo.
DOOM fans are the biggest shit eaters on the planet. Whatever Bethesda puts out, they'll suck down.
Haha
stagger him with nades / remote detonate rockets and it's proactive
It's strange that the xbox adaptive controller never got any sort of switch compatability, I feel like both xbox and Nintendo America would have been all over that.
That's surprising, Doom 2016 and especially Doom Eternal made me feel like they have completely abandoned Quake.
Even Quad Damage is now in Doom, with the same sound effect.
Doom was a good opportunity to take everything good in Quake and Unreal Tournament and just making the ultimate old-school shooter. Just make classic Deathmatch and keep adding new weapons to the game and people will play it for years and years. You'd host maps and select what gameplay modifiers you want and which weapons there should be available.
Movement in Doom Eternal felt like a combination of Quake 3 and UT2004 to me.
When your recurring enemy type relies on invicibility and the AI doing exactly what it's supposed to do for you to even beat on it, something's fucked
Every other enemy in the game lets you be proactive while this guy forces you to wait on him to even do anything. He becomes less difficult and more of a pain in the ass, and maybe the intention was to have him demand the player's attention but when all that boils down to "how can I cheese him fastest so I can actually play the rest of the game again" there's a problem, doesn't help the fact that he just shows up sometimes tacked-on to a fight for artificial difficulty
>default UI colors
marauder is easy tho
>kill everyone around him
>stand still and keep your shotgun on him
>blast him when he goes green then switch to ballista and hit him once
>in this specific spot it works, where you know where he spawns and you have a highway leading straight to him
you kiss your mother with that brain?
I struggled in the first fight with him but you soon realise his attack patterns are really obviously broadcast.
Anytime he charges in a line at you hes going to attack. As for the doggo? Just shoot it, it goes away pretty easy, you can even farm it alittle for armour.
This enemy is the video game equivalent of stockholm syndrome, he's a shit enemy with a shit design put on an otherwise pretty good game so if you want to keep playing the rest of the game that's actually fun you have to deal getting stuck with him for hours until eventually you start finding reasons to justify his existence and spouting "git gud" just to avoid the frustration of having to deal with the truth that he's shit and every encounter involving him make the game drop several points in quality. I wish people still made mods just so someone would patch this motherfucker out of existence. Everything is so much more fun without him.
I agree with this. He's not exactly hard. Especially when you get weapon switching down. I just cleared him on nightmare for the first time and it was so much easier than when I first fought him which took me like 8 tries. Nightmare I did it in 1.
But he still disrupts the pacing of combat. He requires a ton of focus and as you said. You're asked to be defensive against him as opposed to offensive. If you only ever fought him in a bubble this might be fine but since he shows up in slayer gates and later in regular swarms you often have to either ignore him till the end, or risk taking a ton of dmg while you try and deal with him. If his shield didn't block hitscan it could be better. Even if he was a bit more vulnerable to explosives. But as it stands now. He's the only enemy of his type in the game and he's out of place in regular mobs.
Doom Eternal
aka Doom No Ammo
Yes, I'm talking exactly about you and posts like yours. The typical idiot who tries to sound smart by going "uhhh it's actually bad game design because you can't be *checks thesaurus* proactive" while at the same time his niggerbrain couldn't even experiment in game for two fucking seconds, like firing two bfg shots at him, he can't block both at the same time or using remote detonation rockets/sticky bombs, you can get as proactive as your iq allows you to.
Nice try, brainlet-kun. It works anywhere, he has to track bfg shot to block it.
>it works anywhere
>even in all these other places where there's no fly space for the BFG
...you really do kiss your mother with that brain, don't you?
Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal are both Quake games with a Doom skin, the original Dooms barely had that much of a vertical gameplay
is that fun though? it drags on very long
And what colors do you use?
UAC
>no fly space for the BFG
Yeah well you see, you have to play the game first before you are allowed to shitpost about it. Sorry, that's just how it works!
