If you think this game was a "masterpiece", then you're a fucking zoomer who played 50 games total and equates the tired trope of "bond with characters, watch them die in dramatic ways" with "emotional storytelling".
But if you bought it for the ass and discount Bayonetta gameplay then you're alright.
