Last gen really did have the best games in abundance. While this gen had smaller pool of stand out games.

I downloaded RPCS3 recently and had the same crisis only to find out I either already owned/played all of the PS3's hidden gems or they've since come to PC.

It was a bit disappointing because I remember when PS1 emulation became a thing and I spent several years going back through that catalog trying out all the rare or obscure games I never got a chance to play back in the day, and it happened again when PS2 emulation became a thing, and hell I'm still not finished with the PS2's massive library, PS2 has more hidden gems than some entire consoles have games. Then I come to PS3 and really you can almost count the games which have stayed PS3 exclusives and aren't super obvious like Demon's Soul or Uncharted on one hand.

The port of The Simpsons Arcade. Gotta hack it in order to play it nowadays if you don't already have it though.

On a sidenote, I really wanted to try out that licensed "Real steel" robot boxing game, but apparently its been delisted.

Yes. PS3 has a great library

If you can find Eat lead: the return of Matt hazard for a few bucks its worth it just for the shits and giggles. You don't see games like that anymore these days really.

i hated it

The reason is a TON of studios died last-gen. They either couldn't make the switch or they tried to make the switch and failed, getting closed down by their higherups or going bankrupt.

And then you have other studios like High Moon Studios that made great shit like Fall of Cybertron but now they've been stripped down to a skeleton crew and enslaved to help with Call of Duty.

How is PS2 emulation on PS3 CFW? I know it's doable even on the slim models but I've never seen people talk about it.

terrible, you're better off using pc emulation, or better yet, buy a fat ps2 and use freeharddriveboot

forgot to say it in my post, but the original fat ps3 has actual ps2 hardware so it can be good, but all the following models gutted it. The slim has no ps2 hardware and uses software emulation which only works on a few games
