all of the links react to situations in different distinct ways. the only ones that i would say have a generic hero personality in their reaction to things are oot/mm link and twilight princess link, but twilight princess link is a lot calmer and collected. wind waker link is hyper child, skyward sword link is a dumb goofball, and botw link is a socially awkward knight. one thing ties them all together though, and that's the courageous part of their personality. whether it be naïveté, stupidity, or their sense of duty, they all take on their quest with loads of courage
he's a fuckin offbrand doomslayer. he may be iconic, but at the end of the day he's a boring character.

i think zelda as a series is okay. i love the 2d games by flagship, alttp, oot, the nes games, and botw, but i hate wind waker, skyward sword, spirit tracks, and albw. the rest i mildly like. feel the same way about halo, just an okay series overall. the trilogy + odst are classics, but everything else sucks.
i just think it's retarded as fuck to claim link has no personality. no, he's not full of it, but he for sure has more than goddamn master chief of all characters.

Bungie were very open about designing the Chief to be a hulking suit of armor for the player to project themselves onto. That's why he doesn't have a face. He was always meant to be Shooter Guy.

Him being quiet and serious is not the same as Gordon Freeman, or Link in this case. He has reasons for being that way.

Master Chief can bench 1500 lbs and run 65 mph without his suit. He also crush an Elite's skull with a single barehanded punch. He was unarmed and beat 3 ODST's singehandedly when he was a kid. He has superhuman reflexes and in his suit can become invincible with overshield and/or armor lock. This isn't even mentioning Cortana who is built into his suit and capable of destroying planets herself.

Link can...shoot bugs with his slingshot. Yeah, I'm thinking Chief wins.

Link is a worse character on the basis that he's not A character. There's like 15 different Links!
If you think he has any personality then that should only be applied to the specific Link in question, not all Links.
