i'm in the beta and it's hard to overstate just how slow it feels. footstep volume and the strange lack of ambience/sound culling means you have to walk a huge percentage of the time, and even run speed with a knife is closer to the speed you move with an awp or HMG in go.

the abilities are generally all fairly clunky to use, you can't just throw them out in a crisis. they are mostly unsatisfying to use and the amount of sight blockers is a massive piss take.

you might think "CS GO with abilities" sounds like some utter zoomer shite, but it really is the opposite. it's not designed to be "fun" in any way. the only thing that suggests that are the awful characters who are simulateanously the most forgettable nobodies ever put in a game and extremely irritating (thankfully you can turn their chirps off at least).

it's very RIOT in that it's a soulless rip off of other designs, but it's very un-RIOT in that it's extremely unsatisfying just to sit down and play.

CS:GO is already dead, the only people who still play are poorfags and eastern europeans (poorfags)
Siege died during year 2, the only people left playing are the ones with Stockholm Syndrome and can't admit that the game has completely jumped the shark when characters became OC do not steal instead of having the slightest bit grounded in reality (much like all nu-tom clancy games)

While they are really nothing alike, Overwatch is the one Valorant will be killing. Overwatch may be a moba so saying an FPS will kill it is a stretch, but the people who play Overwatch only do so because it was the game everyone talked about. Now a more hyped game is coming out and it's free, so Overwatch 2 has got to be something amazing which it won't be because current Bliz doesn't understand their audience. Bliz will also most likely lose the chink audience to Valorant so they are absolutely fucked and Activision is going to end up cannibalizing them.

this is the opposite. it feels like a game from 2004 that rainbow six is the 2020 sequel to. nothing about it has any sense of dynamism or good feedback. it's sparse, utilitarian and has this bizarre combination of demanding exact sterile precision while having loads of shit thrown at the screen and distracting you.

Played two rounds and it was okay (or kinda fun because people sucked the big one so I won hard even if I kept flashing myself and stuff) but all along it said Network problem or something top right. Had my normal ping for data center games and 0 packet loss. The game felt fine too. Anyone know about this?

There is no way CS will ever die, just look at the streaming curves. No matter what is the flavor of the month, when it passes CS:GO returns in the first spot. Not even LoL or Fortnite were able to top it in polpularity.
Counter Strike is one of those titles that defined the PC experience, and compared to Quake Arena or Unreal Tournament, the series evolved into what it is thanks to the community.
Valorant, just like Overwatch or Rainbow Six, is a sealed game. You can't do shit. No servers, no mods, no fun allowed. Just play for lootboxes, buy and consume.
Imagine when the next Counter Strike installment will hit PC gamers. It's gonna be the best multiplayer fps all over again thanks to his community.

Eh, it dragged its heels and ended in a kind of okay place. Still overly aggressive and characters feel so limited. Player base has dwindled a bit but it is still one of the bigger games. Feels like everyone is over the game, especially cause no more big updates.
