Came back recently after a hiatus since Yasuo patch. The game itself actually plays far better than it did back then. Somehow the community and the model seem to have gotten even worse though. I can't imagine how anyone actually builds a character and rune collection now, you don't earn shit for playing games after your newbie rewards which dry up fast as fuck and they've barely reduced any prices years later.
A huge shame when do many of my complaints about the gameplay back then have finally been fixed.

i havent even played lee in years and im fine with it, when lee sin is good game is still playable and fun but when any other jungler gets too good i want to uninstall, everytime sejuani,zac,ww or yi get their spotlight game is miserable as fuck.

This. They've gone back on so many "promises" like legacy skins and sequential hero price reduction.
The game itself is still mildly interesting, but you can tell there are some dev favorites, notably the melanin infused champs that have a passive and bonus stats on every single one of their skills.
Still it's worth a game or two, even if it's just to dip your toes in the genre.
Don't play it right now though. The Chinese coding is showing because of the quarantine and a lot of shit is broken atm.

they removed runes added keystones to mastery page which is free, also retard who say getting champions is harder than before are clueless, i made countless of new accounts and its easier than ever to get them now. If you ignore cosmetics and go for champion shards as reward from missions its even easier to build reasonable collection.

They redid the whole system. For the better honestly. Runes and masteries basically got merged into one and you unlock it all pretty fast. It's stuff that changes how you play the game instead of plain bonuses.
You still have to buy pages though and the price is prohibitively high in the free currency. I think old accounts get a big refund on old runes though.

I don't know how the fuck a new player could get into the game now. I'm effectively a Smurf winning 90% of my games and it's still fucking terrible to get this account rolling.

You get more stuff from leveling up, it balances out. Also runes are totally free and completely reworked to not be retarded.

Not that I think you aren't just lying to start a shit thread, but if you really haven't played since 2011 then there's no way someone on Yas Forums is going to catch you up on 9 years of how the game's changed, but here's some stuff to google:
>Loot
They added a loot system that makes it easier to get free shit. IP is now Blue Essence. Account levels are uncapped and you get free shit when you level. There are missions almost always that either get you event tokens for free shit or just more shit. IP is now Blue Essence, RP is still RP. League has been monetizing using a Pass system like god damn fortnight, which is a pain. It really only affects the event token free shit, though. If you're just interested in normal free shit then things are good.
>Runes/Masteries
Runes are gone in favor of a swapped up Mastery System. Google it. They have a bigger gameplay impact now so don't ignore them.
>Dragon
Instead of just A Dragon, there are different types of Dragon that can spawn in the pit, and the team that kills them gets a buff. Google that shit.
>Map Changes
Some small map changes. Also when a few dragons go down the map switches up so you'll want to look that up. It's new this season. Before Baron spawns there's a mini-boss that you can kill to get a use-item that spawns it to int down the lane and chunk towers. Also scuttle crabs, plants, reworking jungle camps... google it, play it, or watch it.
>Champions
Same as it ever was. Good ones and bad ones. Really as long as you aren't playing bottom of the barrel shit you'll be fine. Be aware of champions that've been reworked. Aphelios is the worst. It's not just you. Lux is officially Riot's Daughter.
>Jungle
You've got jungle items that you're expected to buy when jungling. They're hella gold efficient but you need to have smite to buy them. You left before the first round of Jungle Items came out, I think, so be aware of that.
>Gameplay
Honestly it's fine. Game's in a pretty decent state.

Every single champion has 6 dashes and 16 lines of text on all their skills, everyone dies in 4 hits, and everything kills in 4 hits.
People stopped running ignite because they realized it was just overkill, they can probably 100-0 you on a gank with just the laner and jungler's three basic abilities, and maybe an ult just to kill secure. People have started building tabis because mercs CC reduction literally doesnt matter anymore, once you get hit youre dead.

Hey user, I stopped when they removed AP Yi from the game, and have played it on and off since then.

Whether it’s enjoyable is completely subjective, but let me tell you what isn’t:

No, they promised a very complicated character, and Aphelios is fucking complicated. It's just that his numbers are so fucking high he works even when you roll your face on the keyboard. If the different guns had been actual trade-offs, like the cc gun doing fuck-all for damage, or the lifesteal gun actually being melee, he would have been truly hard to play, because you'd have to see into the future to know which gun was necessary to have available. Now it doesn't matter, he'll outdps any other adc no matter which gun he has.

It's more like people who see SR being shit flocks to aram in order to have fun. I should know...

The shittier the balance becomes, the worse SR gets, the worse SR gets more people flock into aram, the more people flock into aram and riot says "hey, there's interest here. They want us there".

dota was a lot of fun until they felt like adding random shit like talents and randomized neutral items. i get trying to keep the game fresh but it has been a balance nightmare ever since.

mages are as broken as they've ever been what the fuck. and zed isn't even overpowered, if you want to look at an absolute cancer AD character look at some shit like qiyana. the game is shit

they sorta brought back AP shaco since his dagger does magic damage again, it only took 3 years to bring one of the few fun builds back :^)
