If anything trees need an indicator other than literally chopping them down. So many trees in your base town you'll waste your stone axe trying to figure out which ones you forgot

They borrowed popular elements like tool durability and crafting from other games, and simplified them to the point it wasn't really worth doing.

There's too few crafting resources to make it that interesting, and it rarely appears to use component parts as crafting materials (e.g. shovel, wooden block toy, gold armor)

If I want to max my rock gainz I should be whacking all of them trying to get 8 items, and then break one of them for the extra item too since it'll just get replaced the next day, right? That seems like it makes sense.

they should really make a seperate item for getting wood from trees and actually cutting down the trees. Having a stone axe and a metal axe together in your inventory is kind of silly, they should have like a hedge trimmer item or something for that purpose.

If you want to maximize your rock gainz you should be going to mystery islands because those also have rocks. I don't break any rocks unless they're in an inconvenient spot, because it's useful to know where they are.

Plant 10k bell balls into the glowing spot each day, pop your balloons, whack your rocks. if you have spare materials make some furniture, anything crafted sells for a lot. Other than that, fish big fish and catch rare bugs. That's where the big money comes from.

I get being annoyed by jock but how can anyone possibly not like uchi? The only one I don't really care for is peppy which they managed to make even more annoying in this game because they literally say "le" all the time (what the fuck) but even then they're still tolerable.

I think it really depends on who it's applied to. Like, I have Egbert, but I love him because of that. As your first villager Flip will always have a shitty looking house so don't feel bad about replacing him

I had Diva in NL, her design is a little questionable but uchis are great so I ended up liking her for her personality. Also she has one of the funniest K.K. Slider albums in the game. I got Paula in this game though and she is much cuter so I'm happy about that. Here's hoping you get your desired uchi villager someday.

Anyone have ideas for what they'd like to see in villagers? Especially stuff to make it less painful to double or even triple up on certain personalities

IE differences in waking hours, preferred weather, habits. Frogs already like the rain and don't use umbrellas
-Cats will nap (and be unavailable; their notes will say "Taking a catnap!") during the day, and stay up at night for the amount of time they napped
-Wolves stay out longer on full moons and clear nights
-Bears hibernate in Winter, so their sleeping hours are modified
This way you won't see the same types of villagers at all the same hours, and you can potentially get villagers whose habits blend better with yours.

Sort of like how GameCube's Animal Island had different dialogue for lazy/cranky/normal type villagers; lazy were instead adventurous, cranky were 'refined' and normal were 'down to earth'. A sub-type could replace one set of dialogue (ie every time a normal villager talks about books, reading, etc) with another (tending to nature, the environment, weather etc). The regular jocks might be classified as meatheads, and their subtype could be "chavs" (soccer hooligans, who watch sport instead of exercising themselves).

Ideally if you had to double up on a personality type, you could look for a species and subtype different from what you already have, so your football loving gorilla jock doesn't overlap with your meathead bear jock etc.

As it is right now NL is the best one, it's not even close to be honest. NH gives you so much freedom to terraform but at simply too great a cost, so much shit is missing.

There's the chance NH can pull ahead though if it gets FREQUENT content updates with returning furniture sets and buildings, but I'm cynical and it shouldn't have released with this much cut content in the first place.

Uchi probably have the most bearable dialogue in New Horizons. Problem is, they have awful designs. Only one that looks good is Phoebe.
