Because Chrono Cross was shit you deranged retard.
because ff7 was a better game regardless
Because soul > soulless
>At least Chrono Cross did a compelling story with human looking characters
I feel like FF7 has the better story, even though I like CC more.
It's almost as if graphics don't matter as much as people would make you believe
FF7 wasn't a convoluted sequel.
>Duhhhrr, why game look shinier but called less good than other game?
Chrono cross is a sequel, but its very much it's own thing. Its plenty confusing on it's own
Because fantasy settings were quite played out at this point and FF7 sticks out because it had many ’firsts’ in terms of 3D graphics and characters with enormous breasts
i’ve always felt grandia doesnt get enough love
Yeah I think the ties it had with Chrono Trigger, while neat in some parts, made for some, interesting parts in the plot. I don't think it was all good, which is why I think FF7 has the better plot overall.
>Its plenty confusing on it's own
It's pretty simple user.
FFVII got the bigger marketing budget and hype. It got the biggest marketing budget in gaming until Halo came out years later. Marketing and hype can sell anything. Even shitty Star Wars movies and overpriced LEGO sets.
That aside, Chrono Cross is a better game from a gameplay and atmosphere standpoint. But it had a ton of its story and characters left on the cutting room floor. Chrono Cross does need a remake far more than FFVII does. But FFVII is getting the remake because Square knows it will sell 10 million copies. Chrono Cross wouldn't.
came out two years later, FF7 and then 8 were sucking up VAST amounts of attention in those years
I mean shit plenty of people bought Brave Fencer Musashi JUST because it had an FF8 demo in it
also that battle system and CHARACTERS CHARACTERS CHARACTERS THAT DON'T MATTER probably soured word of mouth for a lot of possible players
Yeah, but 90% of said human characters were redundant.
Grandia 2 was such a good game and it gets no love
>FFVII is getting the remake because Square knows it will sell 10 million copies. Chrono Cross wouldn't.
The truth fucking hurts.
For a RPG to be successful, you need to have a great interface. FF7 menuing was far superior to CC, despite CC having also better combat mechanics.
Because FFVII was the first JRPG people played. They were tricked into buying it because Squaresoft only used cuts from the five minutes of CGI cutscenes in the advertisements and like most normalfags they used their NPC mind games to convince themselves they didn't make a shitty purchase, but deep down they knew they'd been had so they stayed away from JRPGs in the future.
It wasn't the first though.
>You will never be mating pressed by a Gladiatrix Barkeeper.
It could sell that well, if Square actually gave it the same level of marketing and hype FFVII got. But they won't.
It was the first JRPG to have a major audience in the west outside of the niche of JRPG fans.
May as well make Chrono Break with the amount of work it'd take.
They released two years apart. By the time Chrono Cross attempted doing FFVIII's thing - badly, too - it was thoroughly done.
I agree. Though I think they could make a perfectly good Chrono Cross remake on a medium budget. Hell, remake Chrono Cross using the Chrono Trigger engine. Have Horii and Toriyama work on the remake, redoing the story and tone of the world to be like Trigger. Fans would love it.
The problem is, Square management would go "REEEEEEEEE we can only make games with state of the art graphics and bloated budgets!"
Leah is a cutie.
Blame Microsoft.
>”yes we have no games and nothing else to offer, enough about that look at these grafix :))))))”
It's like comparing Mario 64 to Conker's Bad Fur Day.
I would buy a PS5 for a Chrono Cross Remake and if Chrono Break was greenlit.
>game that releases near almost 3 years later looks better
Wow OP, tell me more.
She's got a cute grandmom.
Sony was pushing graphics in marketing long before XBOX ever came along. FFVIIs entire marketing was about "our FMVs look so much better than Nintendo games."
Chrono Cross is sequel to a sequel. Radical Dreamers exists.
>compelling story
That shit is even more fanfic trash than the remake
ff7 is a convoluted sequel though...
However, it does have the moral decency to undo itself at the end. It's also mostly a dumping ground for cut content from Xenogears.
this advertisement sounds like it was written by sony's CEO
It probably was. Sony put up half the marketing budget for FFVII ($50 million).
Because FF7 is an actually good game and not one of Kato's retarded fever dreams.
It's also has soul.
So aggressive....
I like it.
>and not one of Kato's retarded fever dreams.
>FFVII is written by the writer of Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy VIII and Advent Children
Under some strict tard wrangling by Sakaguchi.
sakaguchi definitely did something to keep the series in check while he worked at square, because there hasn't been a single decent FF since he left
Hey 12 was damn good. I realize that's not the popular opinion, but 12 was very fun. IZJS and ZA made it even better.
He was a great project manager and producer - something a series grandiose as FF needs to function. His successors just couldn't fit those shoes. They didn't work on the series from its inception like Sakaguchi did and they clearly didn't know which direction it should've taken in future entries.
I'm glad they'll never touch the Chrono series again.
They called the developers "The Dream Team" for a reason. You can't gather the same team again. They need to create a new IP and stop parasiting off of other people's successes.
Nobody liked Chrono Cross because the cast of Crono Trigger are all dead and killed off in ways that undermined the first game.
The remake made things worst by implying Lavos is still alive and merged with Magus's Sister. It was dark
Maybe your right...but a man can dream.
More like CC is a redo of Radical Dreamers
Nothing in CC is a continuation of what happened in RD
This.
>Chrono Cross was shit
You weren't ready.
>FF7 wasn't a convoluted sequel.
It is now lmao
Because Matsuno was who Sakaguchi was grooming to take over his position as producer.
Too bad Matsuno just doesn't have the fortitude to take director position in big developments.
Well RD gets a mention in Chronopolis as having happened in another dimension.
Holy fuck I'm jealous!
>Sakaguchi forced Nojima to write Kingdom Hearts so fucked up!
>Sakaguchi forced Nojima to write FFX-3!
>Sakaguchi forced Nojima to create Genesis and plot ghosts
Sakguchi was fucking gone you idiot.
But 3/4 that dream team are still working in the combined SquareEnix. And they could get the other people back if they really wanted to. The problem is Square management doesn't care about Chrono. They never did.

Chrono Cross has better art than FF7. Change my mind.
I agree with you. Nobuteru Yuki is one of the best artists out there. And he completely changes is style for each new project. Which is why Chrono Cross doesn't look like anything else. Sadly, the PS1 didn't allow it to look very good in game.
What are you talking about? Tard wrangling means keeping idiots in check, not telling them to do stupid shit. Learn some English slang, dummy.
Absolutely true. Final Fantasy 7 is also an overrated piece of shit.
Even if you were trying to claim Sakaguchi kept Nojima in check, he was gone for most of his work. So your point doesn't have relevance. FFVII and VIII also had tons of convoluted shit, while under Sakaguchi's "guidance."
>FFVII and VIII also had tons of convoluted shit, while under Sakaguchi's "guidance."
VII and VIII weren't that convoluted. XIII is where the series really started getting bad at storytelling and that happened long after Sakaguchi was gone. Granted, he did sew the seeds of KH's stupidity by recommending it have a "complicated story", but his frame of reference were past Final Fantasy titles - not the kind of shit Nomura and the gang cooked up in years to come.
They're actually time ghosts upset that their timeline got fucked up by retcons. Where have I heard that recently?
